“Lovely place”
Review of Olif

Olif
Ranked #1 of 30 Restaurants in Betws-y-Coed
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$14 - US$21
Description: Olif is a 5 Star Restaurant with Rooms in Betws Y Coed, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. During the day, the cafe offers breakfast using locally sourced produce, including favourites like the Full Welsh Breakfast, but also providing lighter option and options for vegetarians and vegans, including avocado toast with poached eggs and banana and peanut butter toast. At weekends, the restaurant opens during the day and serves hand minced 'Gourmet Burgers', a light tapas menu and indulgent Afternoon Teas. In the evenings the restaurant offers a Welsh-themed tapas menu, delivering a fusion of Welsh and Mediterranean small plates. Tapas ingredients are sourced where possible from local producers in Wales. This even includes the Chorizo and Salami, which is produced by Conwy farmers 'Cig Howatson'. There are also dishes using Camarthen Ham, which is rumoured to be a recipe stolen from the Welsh by the Romans who then called it Parma Ham! The only ingredient definitely not sourced locally is the olives which are grown in Seville. All of the above can be washed down with an impressive selection of bottled local ales, ciders and spirits, along with a great selection of Spanish and Welsh wines that won't break the bank.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights over the Easter break. I had read all of the excellent reviews, and I am pleased to say that I am in full agreement with the vast number of these.
Olif is a splendid place to stay. Right in the heart of the village, the rooms are of a really high standard. They are spotlessly clean, and very well decorated. There is a very homely feel to the place, and the owners are very nice people. We only ate breakfast here, but the smell of the lunch and dinners cooking was awesome. The breakfast was excellent, an it is clear that this place is run with real passion.

Thanks to Aubrey and his staff for a really nice stay, I think we may well be back before to long.

We came over the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our meals ranged from meat and vegetable tapas to gourmet burgers.

I had the burger and I must say it is one of the best burgers I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and accompanied well.

We found it to be very reasonably priced and the portions we're good.

Last but certainly not least the staff were all very attentive and friendly.

Thankyou we will come again

We stayed at Olif for an Easter break with friends and had such a lovely time. Aubrey and his staff could not have looked after us better from the minute we booked. Sending us helpful information re parking, check in, restaurant info, the area etc well in advance which was followed up by an e mail just before we left. When we arrived we were met by Aubrey, a quietly spoken but friendly man who showed us to our lovely, comfortable, cosy rooms. We could not have wanted more. The rooms were well stocked with an array of complimentary teas, coffee, water , juices etc. We ate in the restaurant our first night. The vibe was great, friendly staff, great tapas & good background music, fab night and can understand why a booking is recommended. Our breakfast was hearty, tasty, excellent produce and served beautifully. This was our first trip back to Wales since we were all kids & we were not disappointed. Olif, the beautiful scenery and friendly helpful people will ensure we do not leave it as long again for a return visit. Well done also to our friend on her Zipwire accomplishment! Thank you all.

Stayed here for a couple of nights last week, with in laws. Lovely rooms with comfy beds and soft fluffy towels. Nice attention to detail. Excellent breakfast to boot. Sadly did not eat here in the evening as in laws unsure of 'tapas' but menu looked scrummy. Will definitely come here to eat next time. Great hosts, welcoming but not in your face. 10/10

You need to book in advance here. We did this for the 2nd night of our stay. The food is very decent and the staff are really nice. The hummus, pastas bravas and padron peppers made me feel like I was away in the Med. Would definitely return.
