Check in was quick and easy, following COVID protocols, had to ask how to get to room the information was not offered. We booked a superior lodge at the rear of the main building. We had a nice patio area overlooking the river, didn't use it as we visited in November but it would be lovely to sit outside in the warmer weather, tea/coffee making facilities that were replenished daily and a settee to relax on. The bed was OK not the most comfortable I have slept on, nothing that a mattress topper wouldn't sort. The room had been sanitised and sealed and that was the last time house keeping entered the room until we left (due to COVID restrictions) if we wanted the bins empty we just left the bag outside and they would leave a new one.
Evening meal in the bar, unfortunately service was abysmal, the food is good. We were sat at a table in front of the bar with empty glasses for 30 minutes, we gave up and went elsewhere. They lost out on another 2-3 drinks each. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again the next day but it was just as bad so, we had food elsewhere for the remainder of our stay. If the hotel was up to full capacity I dread to think how they would cope. Breakfast service was no better but again the food was...Check in was quick and easy, following COVID protocols, had to ask how to get to room the information was not offered. We did not use the leisure facilities so cannot comment. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales.
