The Royal Goat is in a truly lovely location not too far from Snowdon. It was clearly a smart hotel once, but is now rather dilapidated and in need of a face lift. However it has a lovely comfy feel to it and the staff are really pleasant.
If you have a dog or dogs, then the Goat is perfect as it is is truly dog friendly and you are able to take your dog to most areas of the hotel. There are also plenty of nearby walks to exercise him/her.
Parking is not ideal as it is across the road opposite to the hotel, but as we were staying in the autumn, we didn't have a problem in getting a space.
There is a small lift, which is somewhat scary but is useful if you struggle with stairs. We have stayed at many hotels, with and without our dog, but we were very pleased to find such a nice hotel, where we could very happily take her.

Hmm where to start , I'm here due to work for the weekend walked in and was like walking in to a time warp old fashioned and very dated , was like I was staying in a back street b and b in Blackpool, room again very very dated bit of a fusty smell, bathroom was shower only and was like a tardis plastic walls and plenty of mould on ceiling and walls , one plus side was bed seemed to be clean and was quite comfy , bar down stairs well if you can call it a bar had two local beers on tap and a strongbow pump, can't charge drinks or food to room which was a bit strange very limited food menue, bloke on reception seemed like he didn't want to be there and seemed to be receptionist bar man and waiter, plenty of cobwebs worn carpets and strange stains around , literally was just a bed for the night so if you book here this is my honest opinion lol

I read a lot of reviews before booking this hotel so I was quite prepared for it not being perfect. This hotel is in great need of a considerable investment. The windows are rotting and don’t close properly many of the bathrooms are in need of repair and updating. I asked to change my room as it was not satisfactory and actually ended up moving twice. The staff are very friendly and helpful and do a good job under the conditions. The breakfast is probably the best thing but we tried an evening meal which left a lot to be desired. It’s such a pity as this hotel is in the perfect place for all the walks and of course Snowdon the village is lovely as are the people.

After a long but beautiful drive through the Snowdonia National Park, we arrived in Belgelert and the Royal Goat. The hotel is just the kind of placr you would want in a small village in the mountains.
Our room was small but cozy and they did have an elevator/lift to our room. The restaurant was perfect: good beers, local and British, and surprisingly good food. We had Lamb Rump and the Pepper salad with grilled goat cheese. Both were flavourful and delicious, especially after our drive. Breakfast was also good the typical British fare of puddings, eggs, sausage.

Booked into this hotel because dogs were allowed. Had to pay for the two nights stay as soon as we arrived - never had to do that before! We were a party of six and not able to have a tab at the bar. Rose wine and Old Mout Cider available Friday night, but not on Saturday as they would have to re-order. Food was good though and a good choice for breakfast.
Our room was on the second floor. Up either by stairs or lift. Then had to go down 6 steps, along the corridor and up 1 step. Into the bedroom and there was another two steps up to the bathroom. Couldn't close window properly so heard the wind and rain all night. Also one of the windows in our bedroom had previously been broken and had been replaced with a piece of card.
Two of our party were disabled so rooms changed around to give nearer access to the lift. Hotel not very happy and put up a notice that there were to be no room transfers. Also no telephones in bedrooms to enable us to connect with one another, and no television in the lounge areas so that we could sit in comfort to watch the big game
