We stayed here for several days over Christmas and found the cottage to be everything that we’d hoped it would be- clean, warm, comfortable and cosy.
We especially liked the king-size bed and the luxury of the big deep bath filled with endless amounts of hot water.
Luckily we found a free parking space just outside the town walls, and since Conwy was so atmospheric and full of festive spirit, we had no reason to need move the car!
I'm sure the cottage would be equally good in summer-really well positioned for everything there is to enjoy in this amazing town.
Ideally located in the middle of Conwy. We came for the Conwy 1/2 marathon and the start line was literally a minute away. The house is very comfortable and clean with wifi. Although Chapel Street offers limited car parki we managed to find a space for the entire stay. Excellent information from Jo (the owner) from booking to arrival. Would definitely recommend Isallt and hope to stay there again
Iisalt has everything you could need in a self catering accommodation. Easy to find and straight forward to access. Tastefully decorated with a lovely homely feel. Clean and well maintained. Having all the mod cons including wi-fi and an extra loo, very helpful with 3 kids. The kids settled in straight away and liked the house, the stairs are on the steepish side but has a handrail. We enjoyed sitting in the yard which is a lovely little sun-trap in the afternoon. Plenty of storage room for clothes and comfy beds.
Ideally located right in the heart of Conwy, everything is on your doorstep. Abundance of takeaways and cafes, pubs and restaurants. The local spar is well stocked but a short car ride to the supermarket.
So many things to do in Conwy and surrounding area, 'The Castle' is a must and you can get a discount into 'Plas mawr' (the merchant house) if you keep your receipt. From crabbing on the dock to taking a short 20mins coastal walk to the beautiful beach, you'll not be short of things to do.
There is a free mini bus from Colwyn Bay train station upto the 'Welsh mountain zoo' if like us you travelled by train.
The Cons, not many but I feel is worth a mention,
Cars !! everywhere, the one way main road is always a constant flow of traffic, with just 1 crossing in the middle of the town, and nobody seemed to want to pause to let you cross, got frustrating to say the least. Maybe a few zebra crossing would be good ? Such a busy little place.
Smoking !! I know each to their own.... but personally it seemed everywhere we went, that's all we could smell.
Seagulls !! part in parcel of the sea side I know, a lovely natural alarm clock at dawn, lol. But we witnessed 3 little boys have their chip dinners savagely pinched by about 10 or more birds within a few minutes, the poor little guys were screaming their eyes out... So just a warning....
In conclusion, we enjoyed our time at Iisalt and Conwy our first trip to wales and i'm sure it won't be our last.
Isallt is a wonderful place to stay in Conwy. My wife and I felt instantly at home in the comfortable living room. If we had brought our son with us, we would have definitely availed ourselves of the wonderful movie selection that was provided for guests. The bed in the master was a little soft for my taste, but this is more than made up for by the majestic view from the bedroom window. I would definitely stay at Isallt again, and will recommend it to any friends or family that travel to that amazing part of Wales.
