What a great free house pub we found in Abergavenny on a bank holiday day out. Not only was the food and beer excellent, the team were really friendly and they managed to find us a table even though it was busy when we arrived.

This was my 2nd visit on a sunny sunday. We were able to sit in their lovely beer garden and it was great to be able to have the dog with us. It is a lovely family run pub. Very welcoming and the food is all home cooked and delicious. I had the scampi with home made tartare sauce. Fabulous

We stumbled across this little gem as we wandered the back streets of Abergavenny looking for Sunday lunch - totally unplanned.

The pub/restaurant was busy (always a good sign) and although we had no reservation we were welcomed and advised to wait 10 minutes with a drink for a table to clear which it did.

The Sunday menu was simple good roasts with all the trimmings with starters and lovely puds or cheese available to. Reasonable prices and well cooked food we thought and the friendly conviviality of the host and staff sealed a perfect hour or so. We will return and we highly recommend.

Went in for Saturday lunch. Quite busy, but staff showed us to a table and served us with drinks quickly.

Decent menu. I went for the Thai fish cakes with chips, salad and chilli dip. Really tasty with just enough of a chilli hit.

The others went for the pies - large helpings of meaty goodness with puff pastry top and bottom.

Very good overall - well worth it.
