The general market is open 8.00 - 4.00pm on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; with an array of stalls both inside and out. The variety is amazing the food stalls sell fresh wholesome produce, the general traders have a wide selection of new and used items. The standard is high. A Monthly Craft Fayre is held on the second Saturday of the month.
It is well worth a visit, as for previous review - a shame but do not let this deter you from visiting the market itself.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Market Tafarn is the only pub in Abergavenny which is known for good blues,rock/pop music and open mic sessions which give up-and-coming musicians a chance to perform live. We have had the B.B.C (the British Broadcasting Corporation) film our Open Mic Sessions. We are right in the centre of town, just a short walk to bus and rail station. We stock a selection of good real ales through the year. Myself, Janie the landlady and Viji the landlord have traveled most of the world between us. I was a nurse and Viji worked for multinational companies in London. Viji is the sportsman having played hockey and cricket at county level. I am the one who organises the music. We have twin rooms and family rooms and also a room which will accommodate groups such as walkers and golfers. We welcome visitors and pride ourselves on our hospitality. We have secure parking for bikes. ... more less
