Description: The thriving centre of Leeds may be bursting at the seams with chain bars and big name restaurants but dont think for a minute theres no quirky treatments to enjoy. Arts Caf and Bar is the original hip, young Leeds hangout, combining eating, drinking and surprise local art. The bright and sunny interior, painted canary yellow and decked out in vintage-y furniture, is totally relaxed and the sort of place where you can spend a whole afternoon sipping a coffee and talking art, books and life in general. Many do. And during those long, soul searching hours you neednt go hungry, Arts offers a full a la carte menu in addition to smaller lunch dishes, which combines ethical dining with full British flavour.

I visited here yesterday, second time. I would have given 5 stars, it was just let down with the sandwich of fish gougons. They should have been cooked longer as the batter was still soggy. All the other food was spot on. The service was excellent.

Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly welcome. Pitched just right, Arts Cafe has both an interesting menu and wine list. We love it here. We went for an early evening birthday celebration and for Starters chose Heritage beetroot & goats cheese salad & smoked salmon, lemon, caper etc with anchovy and lemon mayonnaise. Mains were Sea Bass on a bed of ratatouille with pesto (deliciously earthy) and my friends both had Pan roasted chicken breast, butternut squash, butter bean & leek fricasse with parsley dressing (which sadly they felt "lacked something". However, we finished off with one gigantic piece of Sticky Toffee Pudding with a candle in it. Including wine our meal was £94.55. Not cheap but a lovely evening and a place to return to.

First time here for lunch. Nice relaxed dining. Good menu at reasonable price. Staff friendly and efficient. Mediterranean platter very tasty. One downside is that although advertised there was no draught beer.

I have just had the mussels followed by the asian belly pork as part of a Mothers Day dinner. Both were delicious and served in good time.

A special mention to the two very overstretched members of staff tonight who quite clearly weren't expecting such a hectic evening service. For the two hours I was there they worked like machines. Not once stopping pouring drinks, clearing tables serving food and greeting even more customers as they arrived and they did it all without a sigh or looking like they just wanted to go home!

I first came here nearly 20 years ago and I have had many tasty lunches and dinners since.

Always a nice atmosphere any time of day and the staff have always been fantastic.

Delicious meal on Saturday night. Went with my dad and was the perfect place for a catch up. Really tasty food, light atmosphere, lovely servers. All I would say is you need to book in advance on a Saturday night as they are very popular!
