An interesting iconic Cafe in the basement of Coventry Cathedral which serves delicious food. The decor is interestingly quirky and the menu wide ranging. The helpings are generous and the service was excellent - a great place to eat as was evident from the fact that the cafe was packed with not a spare table.

Thanks to the staff for their friendly service and excellent food. The place was very busy but our food was served quickly and was as delicious as ever. My favourite place to eat in Coventry without a doubt!

The sandwiches are nice and the room is very nice and warm looking, service was good, I would go after 13:30 as it was very busy but overall I would go back again soon

We went into the cafe twice on Sunday, the coffee was good but the scones were poor. the scones were dry and crumbly and not Delicious as what we were expecting, we had cream and jam with them the cream was good but the jam was too running, like home-made jam gone wrong, we would go back in for just coffee next time.

Third attempt at getting a table, so thought that deserved a review. Previously tried twice on a Saturday at midday when there was a queue and little communication re. likely waiting times, but Friday at 3.30pm was quiet. Probably the best coffee & walnut cake I've ever tasted and proper tea leaves available. Wide-ranging menu too. Table was in a cosy corner with dresser and settee.
Interesting that some reviewers suggest the service wasn't as warm as they'd expected. I found it helpful and efficient. I think the 'gap' in expectation arises because of the vintage tea room decor and "Please wait to be seated sign". Customers then expect waitress service, but you're led to a table and told to order at the counter. Basically, this cafe is really good at what it does, but it could perhaps manage customer expectations slightly better.
