Visited the fabulous Cielo with a group of friends and colleagues.
Excellent Italian(Sicilian) extensive menu delivered professionally by Mario and his boss (the owner).
Good wine list (but not enough Sicilian wines).
Elegant surroundings, great service and great menu in a central location.

Thank Nick H

In town for a concert we arrived without a booking only to be told that they were fully booked but if we could ensure we were away in about an hour and twenty minutes they could accommodate us.

Menus arrived almoist at once and the very pleasant staff were extremely efficient. Not sure if they knew we were on limited time or not but they did not make it seem hurried.

Two Scallop starters arrived promptly and I have to say these were about the best scallops we have ever eaten. Melt in the mouth doesn't do them justice.

My wife opted for (and raved over) a seafood risotto with a small green salad and (wisely) opted for the smaller starter portion which was more than enough for her - while delicious as it was the enormous crab linguine defeated me.

We didn't have time for coffee and desserts but will next time we're in Birmingham as looking at what others were eating they looked very good.

With a beer and three glasses of wine the bill was around £85. not cheap but very good and a final nice touch as we were leaving the manager thanked us for keeping to our side of the bargain and not hogging the table as the place was by then completely full with people waiting on sofas in a waiting area.

Happy to recommend this restaurant - but suggest you book.

After a great experience a year or so ago, we chose to eat here again when coming to Birmingham for a concert at the Arena. Menu looked excellent again. Starters (cannelloni and asparagus risotto) arrived in good time and were excellent. But there was a VERY long wait for our mains - we both chose Lemon Sole. Not sure the wait was worth it as the subtle flavour of the fish was completely overtaken by the sun dried tomato the fish was wrapped around. No mention of the sun dried tomato on the menu despite its significant taste - I am always frustrated when restaurants do that... But the sole was disappointing despite that and, as it took so long to arrive, we didn't have time to sample a desert. Shame.
