I stayed here whilst attending a weekend conference in Birmingham.

I have to admit that I was initially disappointed. The rooms are not as big as they appear in the website photos and my room didn't have the floor-to-ceiling windows. Having said that the view from the 11th Floor across Birmingham was very nice.

The "hotel" is located fairly centrally, not far from New Street Station and close to lots of restaurants, bars, shops. Check-in was quick and easy and the reception staff very helpful. The lobby area and the dining area were spacious and comfortable.

The room itself - basically a standard hotel room with a small kitchen/dining area attached. Overall it was fine but, given that it is slightly pricier than hotels such as Travelodge and Premier Inn i think i was expecting more. There was a large comfortable double bed, a single-seat sofa, a TV and a small dining table, and a very well equipped kitchen. There was also quite a spacious a shower room and toilet.

Breakfast in the morning was fine but options were somewhat limited. Again i would say no different to a Travelodge or a Premier Inn.

Three things that irked me during my stay - hot water pressure in the shower was poor. There was an issue with the bathroom sink draining very slowly, and having two of the 4 lifts out of action during the length of my stay was irritating.

For a single-night stay I would say that this is no better or worse than one of the budget chains. However if you are staying for more than 1 or 2 days, or if you're travelling as a couple, then the extra space and the convenience of having a kitchen really does make a difference.

First time using the Staybridge Suites. Very helpful and friendly staff. Was upgraded to a larger suite on the 11th floor - really lovely. Lounge, kitchen, bathroom with large bath and large bedroom. Very quiet with views across Birmingham. Slept like a log! Great breakfast. Would highly recommend.

First time staying in the Staybridge suites. Fantastic facilities. Large room with kitchen as part of the layout. Perfect for tourists or business people who want to make their own food. Quality of furnishings lovely all modern. We were in the 11th floor so lovely high views of the city and streets below. It was in a perfect position for what we wanted to do shopping, Theatre and eating out. Would definitely stay again
