There’s no denying this hotel is of an excellent standard and exceeds most (not all) of same rating.

Room (executive king) was good with these minor gripes: not as big as expected from website images. No window to open for fresh air. Top of the headboard was literally thick in dust. Bedside tables pretty dusty. So some minor cleaning hiccups which should not be happening in a 4*.

Good points: outstanding bathroom with quality fittings and toiletries.
Huge super-King (not just king) size bed which was fantastic as sane size as ours st home so we slept brilliantly. Bed very comfortable with choice of pillows. Bathroom spotless. Floors and walls spotless.

Fire alarms went off middle of the night and again mid morning a couple of times. This was pretty annoying but how can I hold it against the hotel really?!? Read it in a previous review so I’m guessing we was there same night unless it happens a lot?

Staff really friendly at check in and out. Bar staff were great. Didn’t eat do can’t comment.

Would 100% stay again. Only advice to hotel is to step the finesse of. Leaning up in the rooms to more detail and it would be perfect.

Hello NorthStar810810!

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing your recent stay with us. We are pleased to read that you largely enjoyed your stay although we fell short of a 5* marking.
We sincerely apologise for the fire alarms but unfortunately this was out of our control. Our team ensured that the guests safety was top priority at the time and made sure that everyone was safe before the alarm was disabled.

We really hope that apart from this you enjoyed your stay with us and we would love to welcome you back in the near future.

With Kind regards,
Clayton Hotel Birmingham

I booked an executive room for 1 night for my partners birthday. Check in was smooth and speedy. The hotel is decorated really nicely overall and feels classy.
The executive room is nice and big and also decorated well but thats as far as the good points go.

Now for the bad points:
There is a funny smell in the corridors. Upon going into my room, there was a housekeeping basket outside the door with used towels in it so this was quite off putting. There were visible thick areas of dust in the room too. On the walls, on the bed and on the bedside tables. Really disappointed, not something to expect from a 4* hotel. The fire alarm went off 3 times whilst we were there so also another nuisance. We were woken up at 2.30am during the first one and then it went off twice again after 10am. The phone on the side table has a light which stays on all night so this isn’t very nice either.

Check out:
The lady on check out was really friendly, I give her 5 stars. I gave her the feedback on the cleanliness of the room and she kindly offered for me to speak with the duty manager which I declined because it was really just feedback for housekeeping to clean the room properly.

Overall I don’t think I’ll stay here again, looks nice but definitely room for improvement.

Hello whoismeez!

Thank you so much for your feedback on your recent stay with us here at Clayton Birmingham. it seems as though we fell short of our true Clayton Standards in regards to our housekeeping. I can assure you that your feedback will be passed on to our housekeeping department to ensure that we are living up to our guests expectations as well as out own brand standards.
I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the fire alarm as this was something which was out of our control. We always ensure that our guests safety and security is at the top of our list and we always do our due diligence when a fire alarm occurs. We are also looking into our telephone system so that we can adjust the lighting on the phone so that it does not disturb our guests night sleep.

We really hope that your stay has not hindered your opinion on our brand and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon,

With Kind regards ,

Clayton Hotel birmingham

We stayed for the weekend when attending a family wedding. Nice hotel within easy walk of the Bullring. High spec rooms and nice staff. Bright clean and comfortable. Restaurant is a bit average but ok. Service was slow. Breakfast is good with a nice self service selection

Myself and my partner travelled up from Telford for a evening out djing and with friends in digbeth. We usually stay at a cheaper hotel due to being drunk and never needing to enjoy the hotel, so as a nice treat we decided let’s make a day and night out the hotel.
We stayed in room 323 absolutely huge, very impressed with the size and how lovely and clean it was and at a high spec!
We enjoyed our champagne in the room and the extra powerful shower.
We got back at 3am, Nice to see security on the door asking for room keys etc, lovely and friendly, OMG now the best bit THE BEDS ARE HUGE and it was like sleeping on clouds mmmmm
We woke up at 11am not realising the time we had blackout curtains the room was pitch black, we fell back to sleep and woke up at 12 oooops I thought oh no house keeping will be banging down our door, but nope we left at 12:15

Would definately love to stay over again when we have the money to splash out one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in and I have worked for Thomas cook so stayed all over the world!

Thank you again! XxxxX

We booked last minute , the photo of the executive king room on expedia website, I thought was slightly deceiving. I thought the room was going to be bigger, having said that the hotel itself is in a great location, walking distance to the shops , selfridges car park and moor street station. Our room was clean and new condition. you can listen to the radio/telly whilst in the bathroom. The bathroom had a nice new walk in shower.
I am writing this review in the hope that I get picked for a complimentary nights stay for writing this review as I would love to stay in this hotel again.
