Was really excited to try a new place for afternoon tea as we’d seen some decent reviews. Finding the place was a little tricky as it wasn’t clearly signed. Upon arrival, the restaurant looked beautiful. There were 8 of us 4 adults and 4 children as we were having a mummy get together. We were allocated in a private dining area which was very nice. There didn’t seem to be hardly anyone there unless it was just a quieter time. The afternoon tea was boring and not of a standard that I was expecting for that kind of price and setting. I’m not a big person but the finger sandwiches were just literally finger sized sandwiches consisting of your average sandwich filling. Not even a smoked salmon. We had 1 ham, 1 tuna and 1 cucumber. For the ‘no fish’ dietary requirement, it was even worse as they’d somehow substitued the ham and the tuna sandwich! On being asked for any dietary requirement we’d mentioned that one of our party was pregnant and the waitor looked at us in confusion. We were asked what that meant?! Being to other places before that was a normal thing so on this occasion we had to tell him what pregnant ladies couldn’t have. The most exciting thing was the arranchini ball a savoury addition to the sandwich. It was different and was quite yummy. The desserts were average as it consisted of a variety of cakes and shortbread in very miniscule sizing again. A basket of scones which looked like bread baps were dry and doughy. The kids had something from the kids lunch menu, the most tangiest soup, dry fish goujons and dry pasta that looked like it was from an asda smart price microwave packet. Tea was unlimited. Service was extremely slow, we were there for 2 and a half hours which of course the kids started to get bored and agitated so it was a good job we had a separate room. Overall having had afternoon tea at many other places, it wasn’t even worth taking a photo of as we were really disappointed and embarrassed of our experience. I’d say there was nothing special about it for me to want to come again. It’s a shame as its such a pretty setting but the afternoon tea was a big letdown. Would’t recommend to a friend either.
