Jesmond is Newcastle's Nottinghill and Osbourne Road is its Bytes Road...
The location is far enough outside the city to miss the city centre chaos but close enough to be within touching distance. Jesmond has a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars which are populated by both the well heeled locals and the many students that set up camp in term time.
The Caladonian has a homely feel to it. The staff are friendly and the hotel management are flexible enough to accommodate picky guests.
The rooms may be a little dated, although I believe A gradual refurbishment is taking place. The rooms come with clean comfy beds, a smart TV, a decent sized bathroom and decent WiFi. Some might criticise the uneven creaky floors or the linoleum clad bathroom and there's not too.much parking, but the location welcome and friendliness of staff far outweigh the faceless budget hotels around that offer none of the Calay's charm but charge significantly more.

its on a main road with loads of bars and pubs in Jesmond. The place is ok, but very limited parking at the rear. The food is good and cheap, but DO NOT get a room at the front if you want some sleep. The rooms are clean and well equipped. There is a very noisy bar directly across the road with noise till around midnight. There is a bar at one en of the hotel and a restaurant at the other, the bar seems to cater for young locals

Stayed in this hotel quite a few times now, area is brilliant, loads of great places to eat, it is a student area but if that doesn’t bother you, you won’t go far wrong booking in here, the staff are really helpful and very friendly, I can’t fault it for the price you pay

Perfect for a uni visit with our son. Unusually do 3 single beds in a room with breakfast £80 so good value and you get what you pay for?
Room ok clean and tidy and fit for purpose but not plush or well appointed. stag and hen parties last night with creaking floorboards in the corridor meant it was very noisy all night with creaking and people shouting . Restaurant ok nothing special would be 2 or 3 star. Standard cheap old city hotel! I am sure there is better in Newcastle and would rather pay a bit more so won’t return

Can park the car here whilst at uni which is also a good point!!
