As a regular visitor to Newcastle (usually a patron of hotels in the area), I decided to try an apartment this time around. As someone with mobility issues, the idea of being able to get up and move around at my own pace was appealing. I stayed at 8 Friars Gate. Note that the complex has a lift to all floors.
Vivien and her team at Properties Unique cannot be faulted in terms of customer service; they were happy to help with any queries I had, from allowing someone local to the area to check in on my behalf (as I had a long journey), to agreeing I could check out of the property at a later time than the default 10.30am, as my train was not due to leave for another two hours after this.
As for the apartment itself, it iss a lovely comfortable space with a bedroom, bathroom (with bath and overhead shower), and an open-plan kitchen-living-dining room, with sofa, chair and dining table. The TV has freeview, as well as a DVD/VHS player. The kitchen has plenty of cutlery, crockery and pans for cooking meals, and also came with some housekeeping essentials, including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets, and tea and coffee - very useful for a short stay. This room also had large windows which meant it got plenty of natural light, along with a door out onto a balcony with a small table and chairs on. The view is pleasant too, looking out onto the cobbled streets as well as trees and buildings.
The one surprise was the loud clatter of glass bottles being recycled from a nearby restaurant, but given that this was once a day in the evening, it was very much tolerable. Otherwise the location was perfect for being able to get to the city and the shops. I cannot recommend this property enough and hope to look forward to visiting again soon.
Stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks. I had lived before with my family in another apartment from properties unique, which encouraged me to stay again with them. This time in a smaller apartment, as I was traveling solo. The only difference I realized was the size of the apartment, since customer service, amenities and decoration was just as amazing as the previous one.
Friars Gate location is awesome, Properties Unique’s staff too. If you’re looking for a very nice place to stay, I recommend this one.
This is a VERY special flat, perfect in every way! I stayed for 2 months (Dec/Jan 2018) and it felt like home. Beautifully appointed with everything you would need, and perfect for work and entertaining. Lovely balcony faces the iconic Blackfriars Restaurant in the former refectory of a friary, dating from 1239. Safe and secure building. Location, location, location! Just a short walk to City Centre, Chinatown, St. James Park (Howay the Lads!), Central Station, loads of shopping, restaurants, entertainment and multiple metro and bus stops. I may have found my home away from home here! Vivien and her staff could not have been more gracious, professional and helpful. I felt so welcomed and comfortable from day one. This flat offered everything I needed, and more than I anticipated. Perfectly lovely! I can't imagine staying anywhere else, and am looking forward to returning. Many thanks to Vivien and all, for making my stay a wonderful experience!
Booked these apartments for some gentlemen doing work in the area, the first thing I noticed was the excellent service and price. The lads loved the apartments, they were clean, inviting and well put together.
From my initial enquiry to checking out I could not have asked for more - fabulous apartment, outstanding customer service, will definitely use again.
