Review of The Purple Bear

The Purple Bear
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$6 - US$19
Description: Years working in bars - and even longer visiting them - made us want to do it ourselves, focusing on everything we love about this industry: Great drinks, tasty food and BBQ. With that in mind, we cook low and slow BBQ everyday. To keep our quality the highest, we make limited amounts. So when it's gone, it's gone... 'til the next day!

Ordered the Feast for a Bear and wasn't disappointed.
Everything was delicious but I've never had such soft and delicious ribs. It was so soft in fact, that the meat was practically falling of the bone!
Fantastic!

Early Saturday morning visit, we were the only people in the restaurant. Table was a bit sticky but it was cleaned quickly for us. Order taken straight away, very friendly guy serving. Full English breakfast arrived quickly and was very tasty and good value, decent portion too. Will definitely return.

I had THE PURPLE BEAR in my head for a few weeks, having seen the favourable reviews on Tripadvisor. The BBQ theme stuck in my mind, of 'ooh it would be a nice to try there some day"

So it is a Saturday afternoon on match day and me and my mate (2 blokes) were ready for a few hours snooker, some beers and a walk about town.

As we walk down Northumberland Street to our first port of call we pass The Purple Bear and I suggested we try it for a brew & a nose about.

We suitably impressed downstairs. Great, helpful & friendly knowledgeable staff. Whilst not planning to eat initially, we read the menu that was handy on the table and couldn't resist a little nibble to line of stomachs for the rest of the day ahead. So glad we did !

We both had a fabulous feed and were left suitably filled for the night ahead of us.

Whilst it being a Saturday & a home match day, we were seated quickly immediately, orders taken, drinks arrived speedily and food arrived not long after. Totally Swift & slick operation.
I had the great pork ends & my mate one of their specialty burger - BEAUTIFUL
Two mains, side, two pints and a half of pop. £15 a head when the bill came.
Great value.

Will be back again in future.
Sincerely, Two Happy Suitably Impressed Punters ! :)
