The hotel is in a very convenient location and looks attractive, with a lovely garden. We Were were speedily moved to a ground floor room when my companion realised that he would be unable to manage the steep stairs to the first floor. The room was very spacious, and the shower was nice and hot, and there was no extra charge. I was unable to get internet access during my stay.
There was only one bedside light and the standard lamp by the dressing table didn't work. I found the mattress a bit too soft. Breakfast was in an attractive conservatory with the usual choices. I am not a fan of a "full English" and am happy with something on toast, therefore I expected better quality bread to be used for the toast. Also it was necessary to stab the jam cartons with a knife to get at the contents. However, it was a friendly place to stay

Room Tip: Ask about internet access! My room seemed to be out of range

We arrived late, much later than expected, phoned ahead some 10 minutes before reaching the hotel and still managed to get dinner. The staff were fantastic, so helpful.
Bed was comfortable and my husband was delighted with his English cooked breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms outside would be quieter than inside the hotel

Arranged a family room for 3. Although the room was old fashioned in keeping with the building this did not detract from our enjoyable stay. The service and breakfast provided was excellent. We would definitely go back if we were ever returning to Newmarket. Thank you.

Room Tip: Room offered was suitable. We did not choose the room

We were looking for a place to stay near Cambridge as my Son was playing football the next morning. The hotel was small, friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door and we were personally shown to our room, which was a nice touch. The hotel is old, with charm and the family room we had was nice and spacious with en-suite. We telephoned a couple of days before to request for food on the night of our arrival, which was very nice and reasonably priced and we also asked if we could request breakfast earlier as we needed to head off early in the morning. This was no problem and everything was ready when we came downstairs, so we enjoyed a really nice breakfast before we departed. It was a shame we were not there longer to enjoy the nice garden too.

Stopped here for one night recently and have to say the owner/staff were great. We were travelling to a wedding and arrived early and they arranged to have our rooms ready way in advance of the usual check in time. Nice breakfast and a good nights sleep. What more do you need.
