This has to be the best market I have been to in the UK. It is similar to the really good markets you get in France.

Although Wells is a city this a typical country town market place, we went on a Wednesday which was market day, the city was buzzing. Recommended.

At atime when so many small towns have lost their markets this was a delight. All the stalls were in use, plenty of people browsing and a huge variety of products for sale - some very high quality products and a great many food and craft stalls. I do not browse markets but I didn't want to leave this one. A friendly enjoyable experience.

Great old town to walk around and take in either the market which is on twice a week with various locally sourced produce or to see the impressive Wells Cathedral and grounds.

Easy to park at the bus station, and walk through the lane to the main walk up to market place, Bishops Palace and Cathedral grounds.

Limited entry with the dog but needless to say you can still enjoy the walk around the town, moat and side lanes.

We’ve also always had a good lunch at The Crown Pub best know for being the pub in The Hot Fuzz 2006 film, dogs welcome too!

Not the first time we strolled around town and found some hidden gems in historic buildings the tourist information office is across the road from the front of the cathedral if you require more local information.
