Central location, grand refurbishment, quality dining. We came in by bus having been squeezed in when there wasn't supposed to be any space. Couldn't fault the service, consistent with our best hotels experience. Very good and top marks to the staff. The bar for pre-drinks is a bit small, but has the surprising prospect of the central spa bath (discretely). The vibe is grand/austere rather than comfy chintz. We had scallops followed by lamb. Both cooked just so, with some unusual matches on the plate. Quite highly flavoured, but thoughtful and well presented. There was a good range of wine; ours was well matched and decanted at request. And we caught the bus home.

This is not a cheap place to eat so higher charges mean higher expectations from customers. Our duck certainly did not live up to those expectations. Have eaten there 3 times now. Whilst the lunch time menu with its lower prices is very good value I can't say the same for the evening fare.

Three course Sunday lunch including glass of Prosecco, £30, best Sunday lunch we have had in a very long time.
Beautiful selection of breads and butters.
Starters- tomato soup, smoked salmon
Mains- roast beef, chicken, with great roast potatoes and plenty of meat.
Sweets- sticky toffee pudding, chocolate ganache.
Couldn't fault any of the food and the staff are brilliant, especially Christopher.
A real treat in the centre of Bath but away from the crowds.
Midweek 2 for 1 lunch deal brilliant too.
Can highly recommend this restaurant for lunch if in Bath. They always make us feel special. Thank you.

We had the taster menu with the wine flight, which made for a lovely long relaxed dining experience. The food was all of exceptional quality and the waiting staff were all very professional and attentive but also relaxed and friendly. Definitely tried to make it a personal experience. A nice atmosphere and the wines were paired very well with the menu. Food portions are small which may feel worrying half way through, but by the end it was clear the amounts were well considered and we were full.
