Excellent food. Excellent service. I had the scallops and the oysters with yummy home-made bread

Very tasty

I have to say everyone in this restaurant looked happy. Food was hot, tasty and beautifully presented.

Although I didn't eat it - The fish and chips looked fresh, portions were large and the wasn't a plate in the house unfinished

I would highly recommend this place

We visited here on our way to Bath University on a day trip from South Wales - everything about our experience here was perfect! The food was great quality and tasty - definitely recommend the fishcakes! The restaurant manager and his team were very friendly and welcoming - perfect customer service! Thank you all!

Its almost fancy fish and chips- but not quite. The Scallop Shell retains the integrity of a proper chippy but with a bit of flair; an old steel free standing bath tub, full of ice, is used to present the fresh sea food, and the tables and chairs look like the sort used in schools in the 80s. Its nice- the look is really good- and it makes for a special chippy rather than your usual run of the mill.

The food itself is really good. We had starters and the scallops and king prawns were excellent. The cod is fresh, with a light batter- no nasty lumpy bits full of grease- and the chips were proper chunky gorgeous chips, again without excess grease.

There's a decent selection of booze and prices are reasonable.

You cannot book, but grab a beer in the pub next door and they'll call when a table is free and hold it for you.

It really is excellent, totally informal but totally delicious food. Highly recommended.
