Unique pub with exceptional character and atmosphere. Two open log fires, traditional bar, great drinks, food was good. Landlords are a decent couple very friendly and accommodating- will be returning soon. Enjoyable evening. This is a welcoming homely place with plenty of charm and character this is an English country pub how they should be. Beware the ghosts!

This is Xmas day 2016, seated in a freezing cold restaurant, with no heating on except for a small electric fire, the prawn cocktail just been thawed as the prawns were nice and warm with no taste ugh!. Next to arrive was the main course turkey dinner swamped in a thick TARMAC GRAVEY and I think the turkey was a road kill they found on the A36. We did not stay for the xmas pud the sight of the dinner was enough and a complete waste of 3 x £60

Mum and I popped in on the way to Trowbridge for our shopping trip. The pub had new owners and been opened for a few months. We wanted to check it out. We walked in and was welcomed by the barmaid, who took our drinks order. We were the only ones in the pub, so we had the choice of where to sit. We were brought the menu and were disappointed as it only really had jacket potatoes with run of the mill toppings and food that you would normally eat for dinner. We just wanted a quick snack, so whilst we were trying to decide, the chef came out and spoke to us telling us about the Rogan Josh he had just made. I said I didn't want anything with garlic as I was visiting the dentist the next day. He said they don't put in garlic as people don't like it. He said it was beef and had just cooked it and said it was very good. It was a special and so priced at £6.95 so we decided to try it. The Beef Rogan Josh was ok, could have done with more cooking as the onions which were chopped in quite large pieces were a bit raw. The dish was spicy but lacked flavour. We had opted for boiled rice and had mango chutney and a poppadum. All in all it was ok but would choose something else and go in the evening or Sunday lunch. Have always liked this pub, its a great location and atmosphere in the evening. The Pub could do more to advertise to attract more visitors for lunch.

On a cold Sunday evening we dived into the pub and all 6 of us enjoyed Sunday Roast. Some had lamb and some had beef.
