First of all, the apartment is gorgeous, stunning interiors and exteriors, beautifully decorated and care has obviously been taken with presentation. The place has a really nice feel and really feels like home while you are there. Heating is great, location is fantastic and there's a sense of importance in leaving this stately home in the morning and people staring at you, obviously thinking how lucky you are to be staying in this huge gorgeous place.
Beds were comfy and there was little noise from the rest of the house which was great for getting a good nights sleep.
A couple of minor downsides being that the oven is not big enough to cater easily for many guests. Also the wifi really only works on the ground level and drawing room level... Certainly didnt work on the top level. The stairs get a bit tiring but that is to be expected. The children's beds on the top floor are too narrow for adults, so that needs to be a consideration if you are planning for adults in that room. A few more sets of keys would have been useful, 3 sets between 15 people wasn't really enough. Parking is an issue, but I think that's the case with most accommodation in the city centre area.
Overall I would certainly recommend this accommodation and hope I am lucky enough to stay again!
The house is in a lovely location, within perfect walking distance of all the main area's of Bath, such as the Pump House, Therme Bath Spa and the main shops.
For our weekend we wanted exactly this, a great central location which could cope with a large group of hen's in one house. The options for our size of group were slightly limiting and this was an expensive choice, however it was worth it as everyone had such a great time.
Things I would have liked to have known before booking:
The downside to the central location was vehicle access and parking - the house came with one parking permit but I had thought that we would be able to bring the car up close to the house for unloading and then park in the street. This wasn't the case, it took us over 1h30m to unload our car full of food/bags/decorations etc from the nearby York St and the chances of then getting a parking space that close by were very slim. If we had known earlier than the day before arrival that it was a fully pedestrian area then we could have perhaps packed our bags of food etc so that they were easier to unload and get to the house.
In our opinion the kitchen lacked cooking facilities for such a large house, it only had one standard/small sized oven which when catering for 12/16 people is quite difficult to fit everything in.
The dining room was located conveniently next door to the kitchen, then the drawing room is up on the next floor. This made it slightly difficult to host, cook and keep in with the party so if hosting dinner it would be ideal to try and cook something which can be put in the oven or on the hob and left without spoiling if not checked on regularly - or even better get someone in to do this for you.
Rooms were all lovely sizes and decorated in stylish design and had nice crisp white linens.
On the whole a very enjoyable weekend was had by all and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return to the house in the future.
