“Tasteful & Very Convenient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2012

Good period style house that has only been under current management since Nov 2011.
All that may reasonably be required for a comfortable stay is here & we liked the valet parking (charge at £10 a day is in keeping with other places we have stayed at in central Bath).
We appreciated the small considerations in terms of using local butchers for their meats, little 'touches' like basil on grilled tomatoes & an emphasis on homemade foodstuffs like biscuits in the rooms & clementine marmalade.

My wife and I spent 3 days here in February. We were in room 21 at the rear of the hotel. The room was a good size and cost £130 per night B&B. We had some minor problems with a loose toilet cistern and the windows rattled a little with the wind. The bed was large and the pillows didn't go the full width making snuggling up a bit difficult. (Move your pillows with you as you go) Reception was well run and we checked in early with no problems. The lift was old and noisy.Parking cost an extra £10 per night and the hotel keep hold of the keys so that they can shuffle the cars about in their limited number of spaces. The rear of the hotel overlooks the car park and this can be a little noisy at times. The front of the hotel is probably a bit quieter as Henrietta Street is fairly quiet. The hotel is well located close the centre of Bath and is very clean. The breakfasts were pretty good, but not the best we've had. The 'full' English looked like it was missing a few things. The security was a bit OTT with cameras in all the public areas. I suppose they were worried about losing some of the nice pictures on the walls etc. Maintenance was a bit of a concern (loose cistern) and the sight of the waiter changing a light bulb during breakfast was a good indicator of this.

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel away from the noisy lift.

We stayed overnight at Henrietta House on 20th February 2012 as we were going to an evening performance at the Theatre Royal. The hotel is as good as the previous reviews state. Our room (No 33) was right at the top overlooking the street but it was large and quiet, and in particular the bed was substantial and very comfortable. Tea-making facilities, plus extras, were laid out and a range of toiletries were in the bathroom. The attitude of every member of staff we met was excellent - all details covered - they even went out and immediately bought something which wasn't readily available in our room (not many hotels would have bothered with that I think). The included breakfast is substantial and there is plenty of choice. We will certainly return and, selfishly, hope it does not get too well-known so that future bookings are diffcult to obtain for ourselves.

Room Tip: We would recommend room 33 which was light, large and very comfortable.
