We spontaneously booked this hidden gem for a friends birthday at the last minute and boy were we surprised. When first entering the building all that we could think about was how small it is and how much the decor needs improving, but with a friendly welcome and the food that followed it doesn't even matter. As a party of four not one of us had a bad thing to say about any of the incredibly tasting/presented food and with a £20 menu for three courses what is their to complain about? By the end of the night we had made friends with the table next to us and had a surprise birthday dessert. Overall the atmosphere, food and an added bonus of bringing your own wine I would highly recommend visiting this Italian masterpiece. (ALSO GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY)

As in previous reviews this is a 'hidden gem' don't think about posh decor or cool surroundings, think great food and good atmosphere. Emma was our meeter and greeter and waitress with all the knowledge and recommendations. The food was brilliant, rustic, hearty, great value and tasted superb. The meatballs starter was a main course in itself.
I had the Fixed price menu £20 for 3 courses, an absolute bargain! Bring your own wine and beer with just £2 corkage, it's well worth a visit and if we are ever this way again that's exactly what we'll do.
We live near Harrogate which is full of chain restaurants so it's a refreshing change to find an independent which is good value and good food, highly recommended.

We were taken to this little gem by some friends from Sheffield for a get together. It isn't much to look at from the outside but it is well worth going in.

Booking is essential at weekends due to its small size and probably its reputation.

You can bring your own alcohol with just a small corkage charge for wine. Alternatively there are several pubs nearby including a Wetherspoons for before or after the meal.

A friendly welcome awaits followed by a look at the decent sized menu. The set menu which is 3 courses for £20 still seems to include most dishes including the specials board.

Service was quick and the starters went down very well. The food was the best I'd had in ages with a good seafood selection. I had grilled goats cheese on caramelised onion for starter followed by a wonderful tuna steak with mussels in a very flavoursome sauce. I also squeezed in a very nice tiramisu for dessert.

Whilst the restaurant was very down to earth the presentation matched the quality of the food itself.

Fantastic place - just wish we lived nearer!

You definitely need to book in advance. Nice small restaurant, a bit dated could definitely do with a spruce up. I opted for the £20 three course menu, slightly disappointed with the chicken main dish not cooked enough and bland taste.
Wish I gone for Crespelle chicken pancake instead. The chocolate pancake dessert definitely does not need squirts cream which has no taste. In fact they nearly all on the desserts menu had squirts of cream. It would be better with a sorbet / ice cream of your choice. NOTE not ideal for disabled /wheelchair visitors as no space between tables. We found it rather cramped. Waitress was very polite. The specials board could be clearer to read though. But will try again . Nice average meal overall thanks
