Stayed here for a work conference but was left disappointed by the experience. The room I stayed in eas very tired looking and could do with a refresh. Curtainn hanging off rail, broken bin, very tired furniture etc. On top of the disappointing room, the lift was out of order and water turned off from 8pm. Definitely not the best experience and nothing offered for the inconvenience. Cannot recommend and would not stay again.

We stayed at the best western as it was close to the 02 academy where we were seeing a gig. The lift was not in use but the hotel did inform via email this before we came. The hotel is in a good central location with a discounted Ncp opposite. The receptionist who checked us in came across unfriendly. The receptionist who checked us out was lovely.
The hotel is very outdated and doesn’t have air conditioning which made the room very hot and stuffy. We turned off the radiators in our room and opened the windows (they only open small amount). We did find two fans in the wardrobe but this was in the morning.
The pillows and bed linen were worn. In the bathroom the toilet seat was bent and the shower screen did little to stop water coming out.

It's in a great location bang in the centre of town near tram stops and ten minutes walk from the station but it is difficult to find, even for locals and mobile phones.
Why? The Best Western is up a narrow street in the shadow of one of the city's two universities.
Once found, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room clean - it was a tad faded - but it was quiet despite being across the road from a busy cinema and bar.
The bed was comfortable and the bathroom sizeable. The breakfast range was extensive with full English and a choice of fish (kippers) available along with soya.

Not long returned from a two night stay . As previous reviews say the hotel could do with updating . There is a massive step to the shower which I imagine for some people could be a problem and the rooms have more furniture in then needed but as a base it’s ideal . And yes it is a bit noisy but didn’t bother us too much . Staff were helpful and friendly and let us check in early it could of done with room service and a bit of a clean as we had a very small bin which was full after our first night but I would return purely for the location Hopefully the rest of the hotel will be updated to match the reception and bar area .

This hotel feels a bit like faded glory and it’s entrance is in a rather awkward alley. Perhaps not that great for solo female travellers in the dark. Rooms are good sized but no air conditioning. The place felt a bit empty. Nice decor in the main areas. Breakfast was surprisingly good.

Dear Tom_from_Malvern

Thank you for your feedback, I am pleased that you enjoyed various aspects of your stay and hope we have the opportunity of welcoming you back again to further improve upon your recent experience.

I am pleased you started off your day with our freshly cooked breakfast before heading out into the city.

The main areas and the Sheffield Sky Line themed room were the first areas for refurbishment, we plan to mirror the same high quality of décor throughout the rest of the property very soon and hope yourself and our other guests take enjoyment from the improvements.

Kind Regards

Assistant Manager
