My room was right next to the emergency stairs, and there was something loud like an AC unit rumbling in the stairwell most of the night. You also couldn't control the room temperature yourself within the room, you had to go to reception to ask them to change it, something which was not mentioned online when I was booking. Other than that, an average Premier Inn.

Turned up at 5pm to be told 3pm was not a guarantee check-in time!
Showers not working in multiple rooms that we booked, two 31 year olds having to get in the small bath to wash
Unfriendly and very slow staff
Covid is no longer an excuse

After two years of putting up with low quality service at this hotel, the final straw was to find the heating was now being ‘controlled by reception’. Despite 2 requests for the temperature to increase, I was so cold I woke up in the night. The bath water was also barely lukewarm in the morning. Even the hairdryer blew only cold air, and the kettle wouldn’t work unless I held down the knob. Think this is my last stay here at this run down, poorly staffed hotel.

Was put in a room (124) on the first floor, next to the road, where the window didn’t close so very noisy/little sleep, with the road and wind from the storm.

First floor corridor also stunk of weed and guest openly rolling a joint in the lift (staff also in the lift made no comment)

Able to get moved to another room (much nicer) for my second night but experience tainted my stay. Don’t think I’d stay again.

Like many others who wrote similar reviews, I stayed at many Premier Inn's but this one at Reading Central, well. it has its advantages such as amazing rooms, beds were comfy and the location is amazing that it was literally under a 2 minute walk from the Oracle Shopping Centre, Riverside! BUT, they say bad things happens in three's:

1. After when the Receptionist checked us in on Saturday 12th Feb, we were given a room key to a room that we thought was ready/vacant. Then when we opened the door, somebody was already in there and taking a nap. That came as a shock to that guest and made a complaint immediately to the Manager. So the team checked us into another room. We understood mistakes can happen but for other guests this would be completely unacceptable!

2. NO HOT WATER during the early hours of the morning as we had to go to a family function. We felt such unbearable chill while we couldn’t wait for the Maintenance any longer to fix the boiler! It was bad enough that we were facing bad rainy weather that day! But when we came back into the hotel, it was resolved.

3. Finally, before we ventured for a walk, we informed the Reception team that our room needs to be cleaned by Housekeeping as rooms are normally not to be cleaned for those who are staying more than 2 nights/COVID reasons. When we came back, our rooms weren’t cleaned at all! It was quite disappointing that Reception and Housekeeping were not communicating with each other as effectively and swiftly as they should have!

These things are unprecedented at most hotels - the money I paid was not worth the cost at all!
