Friday night at the Oxford Kitchen -- we ordered à la carte since (sadly) neither of us were quite hungry enough for the tasting menu. The food was delicious -- see photos -- with all the little extras you would expect from a top restaurant. Our waitress maintained just the right level of attentiveness, not too intrusive but always available. Overall this is wonderful food in a relatively simple and unpretentious setting -- pleasant and comfortable, a place to go to focus on the food and the company.

We went to have dinner in a small group, two couples. We asked for a tasting menu warning before to the staff about the diet requirements such as allergies. One of us has a nut allergy and that seemed to be not important for the staff because the first snack they served us clearly contained nuts.
We wanted to double-check with the staff and the waitress did not seemed very keen on repeating what was that they served us.
After that, one of the first courses had to be removed after served because they realised afterwards that it contained nuts as well... I reckon that this is a very important aspect to look after, basically because those mistakes might kill someone. But luckily it was not the case.

On the bright side the food was good, not great, but quite decent. Some dishes better than others. Still a hard work ahead to do. But excluding the nuts issue I would recommend it because it is quite hard to find in Oxford nice-fine-restaurants and this one is close to be one.

I had been looking forward to this meal for some time. Nice "ameuse" presented though would have preferred proper bread and butter to brioche. The steak tatare starter was flavour some and nicely presented, but a mean portion and I was left wanting more. I thought £5 supplement for the rump of lamb was a rip off, it's a cheap cut and was tiny and there were no other expensive ingredients on the plate. Great presentation at the expense of temperature with the main courses. Rhubarb dessert was very nice but again I would have liked a little more. All in all great skills demonstrated throughout; top notch kitchen but should be for the prices.

Food was excellent. However, as a party we had booked a table (and paid a deposit) 2 months in advance. We were told we would need to order food a week or two in advance. So when I rang to give our orders we were told that the new chef did not need us to do this. When we then ordered in the restaurant, the food took hours to come - literally (I had paid for 3 hours parking and had to rush back to my car having only just finished my 2 courses). It was a midweek lunch and not busy. When we asked if there was any way we could have the food quicker, we were given a very frosty response. One of our party then had to leave (after 2.5 hours) and she was cornered by the staff member on our floor and told off for not having placed an order in advance! Needless to say, none of us will be going back.
