We called in unannounced, and even though the place was crowded, the friendly staff soon found a table for us to have lunch. The meals were excellent and well priced. The staff were courteous and efficient, and we were so pleased that we have decided to have News Year's dinner there.

Nice service, very cozy, it was just rammed with smug types so pleased with themselves for going on a brisk Winter's walk then filling out this pub loading up on hot chocolate and crap, all crammed in, piled up like ziggurats of smug padded anoraks.

A very disappointing visit. Popped in for brunch before a walk. First off, the smell in there was enough to put anyone off any food. I know it is a dog friendly pub but we had to eat our food covering our noses as there was an overwhelming stench of wet dog -
like you had your nose in a dog's basket that had never been washed. Secondly, the staff were rude, distant and inattentive. They didn't seem to care at all whether we stayed or left and not one member of staff smiled at any point. Thirdly, the food. I had a bacon bap which was served as a large roll, but unfortunately there was significantly more butter than bacon. There were 4 inch by inch pieces of very fatty, anaemic looking, sad bacon (which covered about a quarter of the bread maximum) and a piece of crackling so hard I thought I'd chipped a tooth when I tried to bite into it. I would have complained there and then but as plates were taken away no one bothered to ask if we'd enjoyed our meal and I just wanted to get away from the smell.
