“Good but room for improvement”
Reviewed 7 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Very attractive place to stay, nicely decorated with views over fields. Sign at end of lane was missing so we had some trouble finding the lodge. Comfortable recliner chair and sofa. Kitchen facilities good but cupboards need tidying up. Good shower in small bathroom but bigger/another towel rail would help. No laundry facility as I had expected. No "Welcome" folder with contact details, local amenities etc. Key left in door for us but had trouble getting out as couldn't find security gate opening button - owner was away and dog-sitter was able to help us with this.More storage would save having to walk around suitcases, vacuum cleaner etc etc on the floor all week.

“Perfect location in the country side close to Oxford”

If you like the country this is perfect for you, wonderful views,, the chalet is very comfortable, it is an advantage that is independant from the main house and other people, it makes you feel at ease specially with children, who can play freely without bothering anyone, yet it is quite safe because it is enclosed, there's a gate with a code, you can come and go like you are in your own home. There is a short dust road to arrive here, full of bumps and holes,, when it rains you defenetely need rain boots if you want to walk, it would get pretty muddy, but then it is the country and the view and quietness are the best. Everything works fine in the chalet, the living room is very comfortable, as well as the beds in the bedroom, that can be a bit separated or put together like a king sizes, but the extra sofa bed is not that comfortable, the matress is full of bumps. Aside from that, and the poor presure of the water for the shower, we had an excelent time and were quite happy to find this hidden jewel.
Another advantage are the points "park and ride", since there is very little parking in Oxford and quite expensive, at this points you can park the whole day for two pounds and take the 300 bus that runs every 10 minutes.

“Beautiful country lodge surrounded by horses and great landcapes”

Stable lodge is located in a nice farm overlooking a lush green landscape with fields and horses. From there, it takes only around 15 minutes drive to reach downtown Oxford and much less to shop at the nearby Sainsbury's Superstore which is quite convenient. As the farm is in the countryside make sure you follow the directions of your host to find the place. The lodge is very bright with many windows and very quiet. The hosts are simple and friendly despite their low profile.
After a day in the busy streets of Oxford it was a relief to get back to this quiet place in the middle of nature.
We would certainly recommend it to anyone.

“Exceptional chalet - clean, spacious and modern. Peaceful location”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Sadly we were only able to stay for three nights but the chalet was perfect, the surroundings peaceful and quiet and the owner - having welcomed us and letting us know how to obtain any assistance - then just left us to enjoy our holiday break. The location is perfect if you wish to visit Oxford; the major supermarkets and other large stores are just a couple of miles away but, once tucked away on the deck of the chalet, you can see only beautiful countryside complete with a windmill in the distance! The Railway Inn at Wheatley (5 minutes in the car) serves wonderful genuine Thai food along with a varied English menu and the staff are friendly and helpful (half portions available even for adults as their standard portions are HUGE, or one dessert with 2 spoons!). The single downside was the potholes in the lane leading up to the electric gates to the chalet - however, this did mean that no cars or motorbikes could speed up and down and we walked our dog (welcomed at the chalet so long as on a lead) without worrying about getting mown down! The chalet was warm, comfortable and modern with a lovely log burner (we didn't need it though as the central heating kept us plenty warm enough). Everything that we might need for our stay was supplied and we would not hesitate to return there in summer or winter alike. Highly recommended.

Liked best: Clean, comfortable and peaceful
Liked least: Better directions to the lane from the village would have been helpful as Sandy Lane is actually a bridleway!
