We drove past the restaurant which was part restaurant part pub and decided to pop in for lunch. The menu was pretty extensive with Chinese and Western food. There was also a Chef's Special Menu where you pay a fixed price for a set of dishes. We had Chinese food and it came with a complimentary dessert - very nice creme burlee. We enjoyed the food so much that we came back another day for dinner. The food was certainly much better than another Chinese restaurant we tried in Oxford city centre. While the food at The One was good, one should not compare it to some of the Chinese restaurants in London, Service was very good and the service staff were from various parts of Asia. Parking was not a problem as The One had its own little private car park.
We were impressed with the head chef from Hong Kong who could cook a wide range of dishes ranging from typical English food to Malaysian/Indonesian rendang and Chinese dishes including roast duck. On top of that, he took pains to inject some creativity to his cooking. (I have attached photos of his creative creme burlee.)
The drinks menu was also impressive. it boasted a total of 261 cocktails other than the usual alcoholic beverages.
If you are in Oxford, we recommend you try this restaurant.
