If you live in East Oxford and are looking for a curry or a hearty meal after a day's walking, there can't be a better place than this Nepalese gem in a converted pub in one of the streets that links Cowley and Iffley rds. The place has the cosy atmosphere of an old pub and the people immediately make you feel right at home.
The momo dumpling starters are a must-have, and there's a great selection of curries and house specials, which the staff are happy to help with recommendations, so it definitely repays repeat visits - you'll be treated like a VIP and may even get some side dishes to sample on the house. The Gurkha beer is the perfect accompaniment too.
As someone who grew up in Leicester with choice of some of the best curry houses around, this more than matches anything back home - well worth skipping some of the more average curry houses on the Cowley rd and hunting out. For those who live in the area and know it already - use it or lose it(!) - make sure to make it your next takeaway or meal out and you'll be in good hands.

The food was delicious! I would recommend eating out here to anyone. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the restaurant itself has a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Special thanks to Dipak who served us.

Atmosphere was lively and current, the only disappointment was the lack of pork on the menu, considering that it is a staple of the Ghurka diet this was surprising. We started with the momos which were excellent, the chilli chicken was perfect as was the Thames and the shrimp dish that we had. We ordered the Indian Sauvignon Blanc....it was superb both in bouquet and taste and accompanied the meal perfectly.

I think the reason I found this restaurant's food to be very good is because the attitude of the restaurant's owners, waiters and cooks was very friendly and always went the extra mile to make sure that we were happy, well served and taken care of. This restaurant accommodated us when they didn't have to. We were a large group fourteen in all and came in without a reservation late on a Saturday night. We didn't expect to be a big group or to eat out -- but sometimes these things happen. Two or three other restaurants refused to accommodate us or just dryly declared their kitchen was closed. Not this restaurant, they were happy to serve us, never once did they come and ask us to hurry up because their kitchen was about to close, the food, drinks and service were all above average and always served in short order. Their fresh Tandoori breads were excellent, their patience exemplary, their complicated dishes were delicious without being too much and in all this restaurant deserves a lot of credit for being unpretentious, forgiving and patient with its customers. One more thing. This restaurant is generous. They constantly sent us little tasters and different things to nibble at even though we hadn't ordered them and I'm not talking about Papadums, and always in between dishes while we were waiting for other foods to come out. By the time we finished it was really late and hadn't felt the time go by because we were having such a good time. Still, not even once did anyone come over and ask us to hurry, we were the entire time given the impression that had we wanted to order a whole new meal at one in the morning that it wouldn't have been a problem. Now that's a special restaurant, maybe it could ameliorate here or there, but they deliver where it counts most!
