A regular now for me with friends that lunch. I am always given a warm and inviting welcome and am made to feel at home.
I always eat light at lunch time and so usually my friends and I do a share anti pasta board (depending on the chef on duty) these can usually be adapted or added to at a fractional cost.
Great value for this meal. The main menu is quite comprehensive and varies in price accordingly, although most meals can be tailored to budget. I have eaten here in past evenings too when availing myself of a deal. I have never found the staff to be anything but friendly and obliging which makes for a great atmosphere. The old stone building (which is a boutique type hotel) has a modern refurbishment sympathetic to its period and surrounds. It is pleasing both in decor and ambience. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Enjoyed a pleasant Christmas Day lunch; efficient service. As it was Christmas Day we’d preordered the week before, meals all as expected. Food good quality. Friendly staff.

Pub is pleasant and was not busy on a week night.
We had the festive menu.
Pate was nice but venison was overcooked. Greens were not good.

Service could be improved.

Visited this place today on the off chance as had not booked. Friendly welcoming man behind the bar with lovely waiters/waitresses. Service was a little slow but they were busy so acceptable. Ordered the haddock with chips and salad which was cooked to perfection and tasty. My friend had the burger with blue cheese which he said he felt was a real proper homemade burger. The place was clean and tidy including the toilets which is a rare thing these days. Only thing I would say is that the desert menu needs to have a better choice.

OK sums it up. Beer was cloudy but replaced when highlighted and gin came without choice of tonic but again replaced when mentioned. The shared platter of meat was OK, nothing to write home about. For mains we had steak which was a bit tough, but often seems to be the case in the UK. The pie was good and plentiful, probably no need for the side order of chips.

Overall it was OK but was hoping for so much more...
