Gail's is fine - if you have enough money that you'd prefer to spend it on a mediocre 'artisan bakery' rather than walk 10 minutes in any direction in Oxford to a better one. My companion and I shared an overdone, rather tasteless almond and chocolate croissant. I had an overpriced latte and she paid £5 (!!) for hot chocolate which we saw being poured from a jug which had clearly been sitting there for a while, since it arrived almost cold. I'd recommend walking up Walton Street (round the corner) to Barefoot Cafe, or heading down to Crisis Cafe or the Art Cafe, instead.

If you like quite ordinary good at top level prices served with an attitude.
If you like getting fried eggs when you asked for scrambled.
If you like clearing your own table.
If you like watching the air conditioning being mended.
This is your kinda place.
Still, better than last time when I never actually got the artisan sausage roll at all

Decided to give Gail's a second try having experienced poor service a few months ago. It's got worse! Dirty tables, rude staff, incorrect order. Shame as great location and some good products. Guessing they can't get the staff and management poor.

My wife and I had breakfast and later on lunch and we really enjoyed our food. The bread and sandwiches were delicious as was the tea that was served. I also visited Gail's bakery at Chiswick and enjoyed the food there too.

As our son and his wife live in Jericho, Gails is a place we frequently buy bread from. So, on a Saturday morning our son suggested breakfast at Gail’s we agreed immediately; the excellent bread we had been buying was definitely a reliable indicator. We had to wait a while to find tables on the sidewalk, and they were crammed against one another to be rather intrusive; your breakfast/ brunch could possibly nudge your neighbours on the next table. Table clearance was also sloppy, and we did a part of it ourselves. We went inside, looked at all the displays and choose an almond croissant ,
courgette and goat cheese quiche, a savoury scone with butter, a cheese straw
and a salmon croissant. All were excellent, and as we shared our choices , we got a fair sample of the food on offer. The bakery is obviously very good, and we enjoyed all that we had that morning. The kerbside was bright, warm and inviting, though we cold have done with possibly more elbow and leg room. The person behind the cash counter was a bit of of a stickler for the correct terminology for the items ordered, and seemed a bit stuffy if you didn’t get the item right as on the display. The food was a bit expensive, but given the fact that that this was a trendy place in Jericho, a lovely area, we were happy to pay. Nice place to go in a hurry, or for a lazy morning( if you can find seating, of course).
