While the location is handy (a ten-minute walk to the town centre) and the staff were friendly, our room was quite unattractive: low ceilings, small windows with outdated curtains, beige quilted vinyl headboard (ugh), no art at all anywhere, nothing interesting in terms of furnishings or decor at all. Also a weird entryway from the street with badly worn carpet and a strong chemical-air-freshener smell. My overall conclusion is that the rooms look much better in the photos than they do in real life. Or perhaps the rooms vary greatly, and my husband and I got particularly unlucky, aesthetically speaking, with our room. Again, it wasn't awful, and the mattress at least (as opposed to everything else in our room and in the hotel bar across the street) was new. You can definitely make do at the Hotel Ethos, but if you're looking for a quaint, quintessential-Oxfordshire experience, this is not your place.

Was disappointed with the room having paid £150 per night to be honest. It is close to town but would probably look elsewhere next time.Book a car parking space because trying to park locally is a nightmare

A lovely quaint hotel. Rooms well detailed and the lovely bar across the road which is part of the hotel was excellent. Nice food and great hospitality. There is parking at a small cost but in the narrow streets well worth it.

Room tip: It is an old building so be aware that the rooms can be small

The hotel standard and location perfectly fit the prize. The reoom stadard was good. Quite area not far away from the University and railway station. This was our second stay in this hotel and we will choose it again when in Oxford.

Room tip: Room standard an services offered fit our expectations.

The suites are awesome. Service is great. Quiet neighborhood, but a short walk to the river and just 20 minutes from center of town. Quaint cafe across the road is where the hotel concierge sits and a warm welcome awaits. Our third stay and never disappointed. We highly recommend this comfortable tucked away gem. Don't miss it.
