I had been recommended to visit here by a friend recently - so booked a table when we wanted somewhere casual to dine before watching ice hockey. Really nice decor inside, staff friendly throughout. Was pretty empty at 5pm on a Saturday. We ordered the large sharing nachos with chicken which was fine for all four of us. I then had a pork burrito with a side of fries which was so good. Two of our party had the fajitas for two which also went down well, and was good for the price.

We've been wanting to try El Capo for ages, having seen loads of yummy looking pictures on Facebook. Finally went yesterday and selected items from the menu to order the Sunday service deal (Burrito, 2 sides, 2 tapas, wings and nachos, £14 pp) When the waitress came over to take our order, we were told that you could only claim that deal if you had booked in advance. Disappointed, we just ordered a burrito each and some chilli cheese fries. The burritos were very average, no different to something you'd get in a take away/fast food place and the fries were clearly just supermarket frozen chips, and the chilli was sparse. Once we paid and left, we checked on Facebook, and no where does it mention you need to book in advance to claim the Sunday service menu, there's also a billboard outside and a poster in the window advertising the deal and again no mention of having to book. Really really disappointing and all round average.

We went on a Wednesday and had some wings to start with as they are only 50p each, apparently we ordered a range of different flavours. They all tasted of quite literally of nothing apart from the diablo one which was a little bit spicy, the rest were soggy and bland.

Me and my friends then decided we would share the giant burrito as a main meal. DO NOT do this, the only reason it seems you get a lot is because it is rammed full of plain white rice. To say it didn't taste of anything would be an understatement. The combination of plain rice and the shredded chicken with no seasoning let alone Mexican flavours led to this being a huge horrible bland combination of beige colours.

Considering other friends ordered food and said the same, no flavour, I'm confused how this can be called a Mexican. Just add some spice or something. I was expecting so much and was surprised how bad the food was.

We visited a few weeks ago in the evening & again today for lunch. The food on both occasions has been great, very reasonably priced & good portion sizes. The restaurant has a very cool vibe & the service is great. You’re not left waiting for long periods and the food comes in good time. The manager was in today & was very hands on. We will be returning :)

Was very impressed with El Capo. I went with my sister just before Christmas and had a great time. We ordered a few things to share between us (prawn star, jalapeno poppers, 7 green tomatillo wings, 3 chipotle panga tacos, a pork canitas burrito bowl) which were all really tasty! We definitely over ordered but it was worth it. We took advantage of the happy hour deal and had some delicious cocktails (The Wife and Cocktail with No Name). The bar wasn't too busy when we first arrived but had a great atmosphere all the same and was fuller when we left (also had a table reserved for a big party). Loved the decor, fitted with the menu. Would definitely go back!
