My husband, 7 year old daughter and I had dinner at Mamma Mia before we went on The Bloody Tour of York. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The garlic bread with tomato was delicious and plenty for a starter for 3. We ordered a margarita pizza, penne arrabbiata, and I had one of the specials - linguine with prawns and asparagus. All the food was cooked beautifully - the linguine dish was so fresh. As well as great food, the price was very reasonable too. I would definitely recommend Mamma Mia to all visitors to York.

We ate here on 16.08.17. Food excellent (except for the inclusion of pilau rice with my beef stroganoff (?) Husband's fillet steak was perfect.
Shame about the Pimms though - this was ordered and served to us in a small spirit glass with no fruit or ice or embelishments - it looked like a mini lager shandy!

We visited Mamma Mia after a different restaurant around the corner tried to scam us with falsely advertised prices (The Raj) and thankfully we went from one extreme of dishonest restaurant owners to the other extreme of a quite stunning lunch.

The restaurant screams authenticity from the moment you walk in and the food matches the fantastically rustic interior.

Service was unhurried and the highlight was my huge calzone, which was cooked to perfection.

Well worth a visit.

Impromptu visit to York on our way back from a wedding and found this gem of an Italian restaurant. Fantastic, authentic food. We shared some meatballs to start followed by a calzone and the duck pasta. Would highly recommend all dishes. Great value too.

Didn't get chance to hardly get through the door before been shouted at by some member of staff " no highchair no highchair " we didn't even bother to inform him that we didn't need one. Shame as we have eaten there before , but never again!!!!
