Picked up by Paula at the bus station. Had tea and cake on arrival. Nice large room. Breakfast was huge and of good quality. Had a nightcap with them one evening!! A nice touch was that it was our anniversary and whilst out Paula put a card and bottle of wine in our room. She took us back to the bus station after our 3 night stay. Lovely couple and Denzil was gorgeous!!! Would certainly stay again.

We stayed one night in a superior room. The room was a good size and appeared clean however the corners of the bedroom and parts of the ensure require some attention. That said, Peter, Paula and Denzel were so lovely. They couldn't do enough for their residents and Denzel the dog was just gorgeous. We were offered a glass of wine or tea/coffee and we had a piece of home-made fruit cake on arrival. Free wi-if available and they had a great knowledge of the local area/restaurants and pubs. Good breakfast and £80 per night was good value - thanks for a great stay!

From our warm welcome, after a very last minute booking, we were shown to a clean room with on-suite shower/ sink and toilet down the corridor. Paula was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. A good night's sleep and a sturdy breakfast of very good quality set us up for the day.

Owners have a very friendly dog.

We had a two night stay at the Riftswood,we were made welcome from the very minute we arrived. We would definitely recommend people to stay here, Paula is just lovely and chatty and makes you feel so much at home. Denzel the dog is also a character. Riftswood is close to the beach and in easy walking distance to everywhere. The breakfast is to die for, my husband asked for an omelette instead of usual eggs and nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to going back soon.

We stayed for two lovely nights in Riftswood and would definitely stay there again and not hesitate to recommend it. Denzel greeted us with a beautiful beaming smile and we instantly felt welcome and at home. It became quickly apparent that he welcomed all guests equally affectionately, knowing exactly when to give you time alone to enjoy Fortune's finest kippers or the other breakfast delights and exactly when to come back and help clear up. Attention to detail is all around the splendidly furnished and lovingly maintained three storey home with elegant decor and painstakingly restored Victorian feature fireplaces in every room. The mantelpiece in the dining room has barely enough room for another thank you card, but we'll definitely send another. Denzel is clearly well groomed, a perfect host and ensures you feel his home is your home and he is just the family standard poodle cross Labrador. Paula and Peter who run this B&B along with their faithful dog made our stay a huge pleasure. Unbeatable comfort, cleanliness and value for any visitor to fabulous Whitby and in a great location a short stride from the beach and town.
