On arrival at the hotel we were greeted in an efficient manner. I would have preferred a more friendly welcome, but no grumbles. The settees in the reception area really could do with replacing. They do not give a good impression of what the rest of the hotel may be like.
The stairs were spacious and easy to negotiate. The room was a good size and the television had a large screen which was good to watch. The windows do not open and my wife likes fresh air at night. We woke to heavy condensation all down the windows, which cannot be healthy when you are breathing stale air.
The room was cold when we first arrived, but the temperature was easily controlled with the radiator thermostat.
We did not consider eating at the restaurant; the prices are clearly only for those on expenses or with fat wallets.
Wetherspoons or McDonalds across the road offer well price alternatives.
We found the beds comfortable and had a good sleep.
The hotel was fairly clean although the general impression is that a make-over is overdue.
The hotel is in a good position on the outer ring road and the facilities in the area are comprehensive (pubs, supermarket, Indian restaurant etc.) There is plenty of free parking outside the hotel.
We would have no objection to staying here again.

Terry thank you for a fair and balanced review. We have replaced the sofas! And await further investment but I appreciate all of your comments.

Thank you

Stayed here with my partner and two children. All the staff we met were very friendly - Julie at breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed using the pool, it is a decent size for a hotel. Lots of parking which is always a bonus.
Room was a bit on the small side for a “family room,” due to the very large bed (very comfy) and double sofa bed. Left only one chair and not much space. As others have commented, decor is a little faded. The whole hotel feels in need of an upgrade.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 2 nights as we were going to a show at the Norwich playhouse.

£150 for 2 nights with breakfast plus dinner one night and a bottle of prosecco.

Reception staff were very friendly and informative. Swimming pool and spa were both clean.

Great location for visiting Norwich (approximately 10 minutes drive) easy to find and would definitely recommend

Stayed for one night.

Arrived pretty late but had a quick drink in the bar which was reasonably priced.

Room was a decent size and bed was comfortable however room looked tired as did the bathroom.

For the price paid nothing spectacular and a very odd location for a hotel.

Gavin, thanks for the positive comments about your room and bar.

We would like to be "spectacular" all the time and will keep trying to be.

You probably didn't stay long enough to appreciate our position but we are ideally situated for the airport, the city and the North Norfolk coastal areas.

This is not really a very typical Mercure hotel. It's a huge facility with lots of room to stage wedding receptions, concerts and parties. Like a lot of 'event locations' the hotel rooms seem to be of secondary importance. It was quite noisy and the location wasn't the best I'm afraid.
The room was fine, but suffered from having adjoining doors,(no noise insulation) so we were woken at midnight when the two people next door arrived back.

Sally we try very hard to be a warm welcoming hotel as well as a conference and events venue.

The hotel is without doubt our priority so your comments will be taken most seriously.

Thank you for a most balanced review.
