Description: Our award-winning Oyster & Porter House is situated at the heart of London's bustling Borough food market next to London Bridge. Our small but perfectly formed dining room is made up of a long oyster bar and high tables. It is relaxed, informal and full of life. The open kitchen, counter seating and blackboard menus all add to its magic. Naturally, our speciality is oysters and throughout the year we offer a wide range, sourced from the best producers around the British Isles and France including our very own oyster farm in Cornwall. Grab an outdoor table, sit back, enjoy a plate of oysters and a glass of wine and soak up the atmosphere of the thriving market - we've been told it's one of the hottest spots in London. Head chef Rob Malyon has a passion and flair for great ingredients cooked simply. We sell only fish and shellfish from sustainable stocks and source as much as possible from small Cornish day boats, embracing our 'sea to plate' philosophy.

This restaurant is fantastic in terms of the fresh seafood, the variety and the ambiance. The bench tables are not to everyone's liking, but are a must as part of the scene in this traditional setting. Surrounded by Borough Market, the place sis steeped in tradition, and is a must for alll lovers of anything coming out the the ocean.

“Lovely Place”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

My daughter and I had a wonderful evening here. What makes it so wonderful?
Well, it looks nice - even though it's small, it never felt really packed. The decor is relaxing, and our seats overlooking the tiny open kitchen were a delight. It was great to be able to compliment the chefs in person for the food.
And the food is really good. There is a small menu, with daily specials, and it's not one of those fancy, really imaginative menus - just reliable dishes like Beef, Guinness, and Oyster Pie - really delicious. The oysters were fresh and juicy. The breads are excellent. The wine is good quality.
The staff were friendly and helpful, chatty without being intrusive.
Set in the middle of Borough market, this is a great, relaxed, quality place to pass the time, even more so on a rainy Tuesday evening. It's not the cheapest but, neither is it a rip-off, and there were no 'hidden' charges - even service is not automatically added on.
Top marks, and I'll certainly go back.

“Give the chef a medal !!!”
Reviewed 30 March 2012

I had visited the restaurant on my last trip to London and absolutely loved it. I was looking forward to a return with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation....afraid that, as often happens, the chef had taken his eye off the ball and let standards slip.
Not a chance! It was everything I'd remembered and more. The fresh shellfish, the 'fruits de mer,' were perfect and beautifully presented, but it was the deft touch in the kitchen that really impressed me.We had soft shell crabs with an amazingly light Asian flavour which were quite simply the best I've ever had....anywhere !! The sole on the bone was a lesson on how fresh fish should be cooked.A very assured hand in the kitchen, without a doubt.
So congratulations on keeping the standards high and keeping a crew on top of their game.
A brilliant 'London Experience",,,,.great location, helpful attractive staff and superb food properly prepared and presented. It doesn't get much better. I can't wait to go back.

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

We had a great meal here and the service was excellent, escpecially as there was 14 of us.

There was a good selection of fish and specials available. The staff are attentive and the food tasted amazing. The only thing i would say....if your not a fan of fish this isnt the place for you.
