lovely place with lovely staff, a bit alternative in nice ways, old building so rooms are smallish but that's true all over London, so glad i've found this place as it will be my new go-to for overnight stays. It is also in "proper" London with some great places to eat and drink around and a bit of life going on...and a little bottle of hot sauce and a posh chocolate left for every guest in the room!

Without knowing where to stay in London, knowing we didn't want a lot of noise and excessive expenses for a hotel, after searching for hours, I came across Church Street Hotel and it looked great, reviews were good, so I booked it. It is quite a distance away from all the main touristy attractions but the bus is right at the corner and once we were able to navigate a complex task of figuring out busses and tubes (hotel staff were very helpful and patient in this process)- it was with ease that we got around. South London, this once "I don't think so neighborhood" has been turned around - felt safe walking around, some great local pubs and eats available (Maloko was our fav). The hotel is comfortable and the decor is awesome, welcoming and relaxing. No elevator and the stairs are steep and plentiful, it's easy to get lost bc it is a maze, so be prepared to climb. The dining rooms are both awesome! They have an 'honesty policy' for their bar, but I would recommend going to a pub bc prices aren't that great. But coffee and tea are abundant and complimentary, and with local newspapers and an array of dvd's to check out - it's one of my fav rooms. Great way to come back after the day's end and chill. Rooms are very small, bathrooms you need to stand at attention while showering, but the bed is comfortable, decor is inviting and it was good. Angels and Gypsies was another fav...breakfast is fantastic! Coffee is fantastic. The family of this hotel really did a great job. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Interestingly decorated, comfortable hotel in good location. Rooms rather small but spotlessly clean, comfy bed and fluffy towels. Interesting extras - chocolate, hot sauce - and nice toiletries. Good buffet breakfast - superb selection of croissants. Staff are all young Europeans - all very pleasant and helpful.

We needed to have a one night stay close to family in Camberwell. We were impressed. A really reasonable value independent unique hotel. We had our car and for £5.00 for 24 hours you can park 5 min walk away. Really helpful, warm staff. As other people have commented rooms are quite small but for one night it was fine even I think for 2-3 nights. Lovely touches in the room 2 small bars of chocolate made locally, water in glass bottles (not plastic -great). Very clean, white soft towels, great toiletries. Lovely tiled bathroom, shower a reasonable size but not particuarly powerful. A guest lounge where you can make your'e own beverages and even cocktails. We didnt make use of this as we were going out that evening. Very good diverse range of dvds. The hotel was not very busy during our stay, so dont know about noise levels, but we both slept well.
Loved the organic juice at breakfast time and very good coffee and pastries. We weren't hungry enough to have the cold meats/cheeses or the cooked things (which are done to order. If we needed to stay in the SE5 part of London would come here again.

I was in Kings for 3 days so I put my wife and Adult child in the Church Street Hotel for 3 nights. I went there to get all checked in, and reception was fast and efficient. We had a triple room (double + Single) Spacious for a London hotel and the facilites were great, including the honour Bar system, which they didn't use, but a great idea!! Some night noise from Ambulances but overall a great place for a great price!
