“Fair price, tube and experiences around the corner”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

The hotel is a fair 3 star hotel. Clean, a small draft from the windows, instant coffee at the room, a fine but plastic like bathroom, a bar and restaurant makes it a fair 3 star.

Aldgate east tube station is 30 m away, London Liverpool Street station is approximately a 10-15 minutes walk away.

The hotel is situated 50 m away from east end which is London's hidden gem/diamond. Spitalfields market is mandatory as well as a walk down brick lane. Start from the hotel and take Whitechapel high st, turn left on Osborn, this takes you to Brick lane, walk through and continue west to Liverpool Street st and you will really see and feel the contrasts.

Stayed one night and used the Ibis for (1) convenience and (2) the Accor reputation.

Friendly check in staff, nice atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant (didn't eat there)

Rooms aren't that special (but they are clean) and the beds were very comfy. Spotless bathroom. All in all the room was perfectly fine. We didn't have a 'view' but then we only wanted a bed. Good TV, tea making etc. Very quiet (no noise at all from neighbouring rooms or from the corridor) We were round the back so only dull traffic noise.

Breakfast was fine. All you'd expect served buffet style.

I have to say far far better than The Cumberland that I have already reviewed and far less money!

Great value for money, clean, comfortable and a good nights sleep. Recommended.

For London, you're just to the east of the 'City', right by Aldgate East tube station. So tube wise we did Waterloo, for instance, in 15 minutes. The West End would be a similar time.

Locally great for the restaurants of Brick Lane, the sights of Petticoat Lane and Spitalfields Market. Not the West End - BUT the East End gives a different, fun flavour to London.

Still, clean and comfortable rooms
Kind people at the reception
Not so far from the centre with subway

What could be improved:
- Breakfast: quality of coffee, bread
- As tourist: French thema of the decoration

This hotel is located less than a couple of minutes walk away from East Algate tube station, so you are well located for central London. Spitalfields market is only a 15 min walk too, with some good food options.

Breakfast was a continental buffet with lots of variety. There was a half price breakfast offer when we booked, and it was definitely worth it for this price. At full price, (around £7) it is slightly pricey or fairly reasonable depending on how much you are going to eat.

The room was as nice as can be hoped for in a low/mid-range chain hotel. It had a shower only, no bath, but this was no problem for us. The room was kept really clean as well.

A simple, clean and pleasant base for your London adventure.
