Good location, great room and very quiet, will stay again. The room was very clean and well decorated, as were the corridors, I don't understand the previous negative reviews. They looked after our luggage after check-out until late afternoon. Breakfast prices were OTT, but plenty of good value options near by or get your own bits from Sainsburys using the kitchenette.

We Booked a Deluxe suite and were very disappointed at the room-cramped,small could not open drawers on unit at end of bed,not at all as described or shown on advertising photos. Room very shabby, bad yellow stains on ceiling, carpet stained and worn, bathroom smelt very fusty and bath screen not clean. Breakfast on open plates with flies on.Most definately not a luxury hotel extremely disappointed.Management not even answered our letter of complaint.Look for another hotel in same area.

Pros
- wonderful international staff
- nice selection at continental breakfast
- Close to the tube Russell Sq and St. Pancras station.
- Minutes walk to Piccadilly Circus and the theater district
- convenient restaurants
- in room tea and coffee selection quaint
- Spacious room

Cons
- Room we stayed in was on the Terrace level - tile floors were cold (but there was a portable heater in room to turn on to take the chill off.
- room had no window drapes so hard to sleep
- room under the breakfast conservatory - a lot of noise overhead.

Room Tip: Room 3 has foot traffic above in morning.

While the hotel has 17 rooms, or 34 guests, the breakfast-area has only place for 6 persons, sitting at a very small table. The staff is very nervous, as we are, each time another couple is coming downstairs, and giving you a look to hurry up.
But worse is the payment for the internet. Normally, it takes 5 pounds to log in for 1 hour. But if you log in, log out and log in again within that hour, you have to pay 10 pounds. No discussion.
The reception has no internet, so they are unable to give you information. With the result you can pay 10 pounds to know at what hour the train leaves.....
Thanks, but no thanks.

We booked into the Claradon Hotel with a very reasonable rate of £78.00 for the night including breakfast for a double room. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite and our room was in the hotel next door which was the Buckingham. Fine by us as the Buckingham was only a couple of doors away.

The receptionist at the Buckingham was not quite so clear about our booking including breakfast and although we showed her our email confirmation phoned back to the Claradon to make sure. (Didn't quite understand why this had to be done when we had written confirmation in our hand!). The room (102) was clearly very newly refurbished which was nicely done and even included a small kitchenette. There was quite a lot of paint smell around and notices of "wet paint" in the corridors, so work in clearly going on to refurbish the rest of the hotel. The bathroom did have a few problems. The hot water into the bath was a dribble and did take an age to fill. However there were some very strange noises coming from behind the wall which sounded as though there was a very loud waterpump at work, There was also a continuous hissing sound. I can only imagine that the main boileroom was somewhere beind that wall. The good news is that when the door is closed to the bedroom the noise cannot be heard! The bathroom does need attention to bring it up to the standard of the sleeping area.

The breakfast room is in the conservatory which is painted a rather hectic yellow with a full on neon light glaring down too! The tables are far too small but the area is very small. The buffet is nicely set out with cereals, yoghurt, juices, fruit, cheese, ham (mucky ham as my mother would have called it i.e. that rather cheap round sliced ham), rolls and various pastries were also available but looked slightly tired. Toast and jams plus coffee or tea comes to the table.

It is imperitive to get a deal that includes breakfast in the price as the hotel charges a ridulous sum for either a full English or a Continental breakfast. There is no kitchen in this hotel that I could see so quite where a cooked breakfast comes from I have no idea. Coffee needs a lesson from Costa too!

If all else fails there is a big Sainsbury's about two minutes walk away with a bakery and loads of cafes and coffee shops near at hand too; so one could always pop out and bring breakfast in!!

The staff are all very nice and when our T.V. remote seemed not to work a very nice consierge came very quickly to sort things out. Again he seemed to be shared with the other hotels in the same group in the same road.

I would definitely stay here again at an inclusive rate. Bloomsbury is a lovely area being both historic and now very bussy and trendy.
