Awful man. Proceeded to berate me due to my desire to pay with AMEX. Accused me of 'trying to get away with something'. Apparently he'd told me 4 times, even though it was only my second drink. Not the way to treat customer.

Thank Charlotte G

This is a ye olde pub with plenty of charm and character. Close to the station & they serve Moretti !!, which is always a good sign.
The food was amazingly fresh and the staff very friendly. If you are looking for some non expensive food and somewhere with a great atmosphere this is the place to be!

Been to the Bow Bells a few times now and was very impressed with the quality of the food. Genuinely one of the best burgers I’ve had and at a very reasonable price. Staff are friendly and quick service - even on match day before West Ham games.

I've been past this pub zillions of times over decades bit never ventured inside.

On the hottest day of the year thus far, on a Wednesday in mid-April, on a whim, I finally ventured in.

The decision had been positively encouraged by an unnecessarily elongated bus driver change (Bow bus garage being around the corner) which after the fourth minute of no movement or likelihood of movement, I finally persuaded myself to do one off the dormant bus and get some BB action.

The pub exterior is impressive, in that traditional Victorian style and as I entered through the centre doors, the interior too was nicely authentic.

It was already busy inside but I was served quickly and was more than surprised and encouraged to see four cask beers available, including Dark Star's America Pale Ale which was excellent and good value at £4.00 which for London these days is a very fair price.

As the weather was so good, I sat outside on one of the tables to survey the traffic flow on the endlessly busy A11 Bow Road. As it was already getting near dusk, the traffic flowed as well as the pale ale and it was soon time to go but it's one to come back to and good to finally know its reliable rudiments.

Pizza also available and a big telly to watch any major sporting event on.

A proper rub-a-dub.

We have been here a few times to watch sports on the big screen whilst enjoying a few drinks. When sports finish the jukebox comes on and there is often a singsong. Always good fun in The Bow Bells.
