“Excellent weekend in a great location”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

This was the first time the family went to Greenwich, a great location to visit the historical sights of the Maritime Museum and O2, the speed of the Thames Clipper from central London made this an excellent location and base to explore Central London. The hotel and staff were first rate, they made my familiy very welcome, the room was a good size and warm (as it was minus 7 degrees outside). The hearty breakfast on Sunday topped the weekend, will be back very soon

Comfortable room. Shower was over the bath which was disappointing (mobility issues) but no big deal really, as we only stayed one night. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent. Plenty of decent coffee! Ideally situated by the Maritime Museum. We caught the Thames Clipper from the Embankment to Greenwich Pier. From there it's a short level walk to the hotel.

We spent three days in mid-February here at Devenport House and would highly recommend a stay here. Our prime reason for visiting London was to attend the World Cup event at the Velodrome. So this hotel was ideally situated for going up to the Olympic Park. Obviously you have to make changes from the Underground to the Docklands Light Railway but it`s all very easy and never too long to wait for a train. We also went into Central London to the V and A and to the Globe in Southwark. All easy to get to from Greenwich. The hotel was extremely friendly - everyone working there always greeted us with a smile and hello. Our deal was for two nights including breakfast which was an ample buffet to keep us going through the day. Also - a very pleasant lounge offered complimentary tea and coffee all day and we also enjoyed some cakes there one afternoon. All attractions in Greenwich are an easy stroll away and we also headed through the tunnel towards the `Island Gardens` tube station one morning after viewing the nearly completed Cutty Sark. We ended up going past Island Gardens and to Mudchute station - across the park. It was such a lovely morning. The Velodrome was very very exciting - amazing crowd. There is the huge new shopping centre just outside the park too with lots of places to eat. The Painted Hall and the Chapel just along from the hotel were worth a walk too and you can walk underground between them if the weather is rainy. In Greenwich we at at Mogul - and Indian restaurant. and also we twice enjoyed lunch at The Kings Head which is just across from the entrance to the hotel. I would recommend both but especially the Kings Head where the food was lovely and excellent value for money and we were greeted with friendly helpful smiles. I would recommend staying at the Devenport to anyone visiting London who isn`t in a rush to get in and out of central London all the time. ie it can take a while changing trains etc. But we took our time and enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.

Greenwich is perfectly situated for the O2 arena and with the reasonable cost of Thames Clippers is now an excellent place to stay away from the city.Service and comfort is excellent.

We stayed for 3 nights on a winter deal which was 3 nights B&B + 1 night evening meal. Excellent value and a great break at sensible prices. We were given a large room at front of building but asked to be moved to a quiet room which we immediately were. Room clean though not as large as 1st room, it didn't bother us. Asked for ice & bucket which was promptly supplied. Changed evening meal to 2nd night as we had tickets for Circque du Soleil and again this was no problem. We enjoyed the meal and a couple of glasses of wine each, so cheap night but good food and service. Breakfast was busy at times but alwasy plenty of food and good variety - again thought they dealt with everything very well.
Walked the Thames path right through to Westminster with a good look around Canary Wharf on the way. Excellent way to spend one day. No isues at all with Hotel and easy to get into London on DLR & tube.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front can pick up some raod noise for light sleepers - rooms at rear more appropriate
