My normal destination for travel in London is close to the Paddington area which provides me with easy access to both the tube and district train lines, This time however, I opted to stay in Bayswater which again is a vibrant area with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops.

The Grand Plaza hotel is situated in this area, is central to all of these amenities and is a great base for those persons wishing to visit London.

As I was traveling with family and a baby, I opted for a Family Suite that would accommodate 6 people. Upon arrival we were unfortunately not able to check into the room until 2:00pm which left us in limbo for a few hours. The room itself was a good size, however only contained 1 bedroom with 2 pull out sofa beds in the living room for the additional guests. Additionally, we were assigned to a ground floor room, at the base of a stairwell to the other floors. During our stay, the hotel was inundated with unruly teenagers who were continually in/out of their rooms way into the early hours of the morning and I'll lay blame that they were also the cause of the 7:00am unintentional fire alarm one morning.

Breakfast was well laid out, but insufficiently staffed for the number of guests at the hotel. The first morning, it took the better part of 15 minutes to be seated for a continental breakfast and after the onslaught of the teenagers, food was non existent.

On the plus side, the hotel staff were polite and accommodating, but unfortunately it is not enough for me to warrant a second stay.

Room Tip: Avoid the lower levels, particularly those around the stairwells. If you plan to stay here, please e...

Booked this apartment as it was much cheaper than the option of getting two hotel rooms for my family and the in-laws. First things first - great location, very central, and also easy access to Tube stations. Parking was a bit difficult, but hey, tell me where in London where we won't face that problem! :)
We requested an easily accessible room due to in-laws as well as our 2 week old baby travelling together - they were really helpful over the phone and when we arrived, everything was smoothly done.
The room was clean and just the right size, and the bathroom was also nicely decorated with modern shower etc. Felt like being in an expensive suite at a 5 star hotel! It was also very handy to have the kitchen and microwave - we had halal takeaways and just warmed it up on the room.
Oh, that's the beauty of it too - it wasn't difficult to get halal food around - there was the excellent Malaysia Hall cafe which served us well as the food there was just like home as well as quite cheap for London. There were also numerous restaurants and take aways around the area which were halal - besides the usual halal kebab shops, there was this noodle place which was great too!
Travelling wasn't difficult as it's not too far from the tube stations.
We had some problems with the heating but the staff were really helpful in getting a couple of portable heater units...
Therefore, can't recommend this place enough - especially for families, but could also see the attraction of couples coming here as the rooms are nice too... ;)

I went to London with my 3 year old and 4 year old. We stayed in Grand plaza serviced apartments for 3 nights. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel. It was perfect for us. Great location. Close to two underground stations and restaurants. I would stay here again.

We are a french family with 4 kid aged from 7 to 15.
We arrived at 11 AM very tired from Paris. First they told us that our room would not be ready before 2 PM.
We gently explained them that we where very tired and ask them to tell the cleaning service to put a priority on our room. They very nicely gave us our room 1/2 hour later which we appreciated.
The hotel is very clean, with free wifi and very well located next to a tube station on circle ligne.
It is also very near from Hyde park and next to a fitness center.
We will definitely go back again and recommend it to our friends.

Recently stayed at the Grand Plaza with a group of friends - we had 2 quad rooms - one on the ground floor and one on the third floor. Both rooms were completely different in lay out.

First things first - my first impression was that it was very busy at reception with lots of people and lots of different nationalities.

The rooms, bed linens and towels were all spotlessly clean. The rooms themselves were Ok but the living area of each room was not a good place for relaxing - quite bare with just a made up bed and a small corner table - nothing else - no chairs (except those at the kitchen table)

When you're in a busy city like London, your accomodation is really just a base - the apartments were in a great location - only a couple of minutes walk to the tube station. The surrounding area has lots of shops and restaurants.

The rooms themselves were just a base - however after a busy day in London it would have been nice to have had some soft chairs to sit on instead of the hard kitchen chairs. The sofas in the room make up the other double bed so it means having to unmake the bed to get a seat - not worth it for a couple of nights.

The breakfast was great - plenty of choice and tea and fresh coffee avaiable.

Overall I would recommend the Grand Plaza - however not if you're having to pay high season prices.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor

Grand Plaza apartments give you the independence and catering flexibility of your own home together with the comfort and service of a 4* hotel. Think of us as your home, but with cleaning, catering, porters and reception staff thrown in. Serviced apartments are the new direction for the hotel industry. Grand Plaza is the largest Hotel/Apartment complex in Bayswater. We won the 2009 award for best serviced apartments in London as a result of votes from the readers of Business Destinations Magazine. We accommodate more people each day (tourist, leisure, romantic and business) than any other Serviced Apartment Hotel in the area.We are located in the centre of the West End overlooking the precise type of garden square which Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts climbed into in the Golden Globe nominated film, Notting Hill! We look forward to providing you with a home in central London. ... more   less
