Booked this for a family Saturday overnight stay for a trip to London - the photos looked good portraying a nice place to stay, the outside and reception were accurate however the bedrooms are not. The rooms are dirty, curtains were covered in dust and the hooks broken. Beds were old and uncomfortable and one of our rooms had clean me written in the dirt. Biggest surprise was there is no bar and no drinks are served. Won't be staying again

Booked this "hotel" in booking.com for 3 day break with family. So disappointed when we arrived. Nothing like booking.com's website. Complete distortion of fact. Firstly this is NOT a hotel. Check in was almost like we were disturbing the staff. This we could handle even after long days travel with 3 children under 11. Then receptionist gave us incorrect building number. Yes I said building. We went into a building down the street only to find out that she was 'so sorry' it was another building further away. We trekked on to another building past the black bags of rubbish piled up in porch past the broken buggies parked in hallway obviously disbanded - up to top floor and opened room. First thing that hit us upon entry to our room was awful smell. The glass furniture was broken and sellotaped(!) back together. Curtains pulled off curtain track. Floorboards coming up and broken in parts and bedding was used. The place needed a complete clean and change of bedding. No view from windows and in the middle of this chaos a lovely newly fitted modern kitchen. Wth.
So we picked our bags back up and walked all the way to ground floor again as there's no lift. After getting nowhere with reception as to our dissatisfaction. They told us they would 'investigate our concerns', No alternative offered and told our booking was completely unrefundable we left at 7pm with 3 children with nowhere to go at side of street. Hailed an absolutely fabulous taxi driver (only sorry we didn't get his reference no to try to contact him to thank him) we located through him another fabulous hotel which looked after our stay. Contacted booking.com who at first seemed to care about our complaint but since come back stating the commodore did everything they could to help including offering us alternative room on alternative floor. This is complete fabrication and based on manner in which we were spoken to by the commodore then we are not surprised. Take our advice - stay away from this NOT HOTEL you will find other amazing places which are hotels in central locations for the same money.

I booked last minute, so wasn't expecting too much but was still disappointed.

The room I booked wasn't available so they upgraded me to an apartment, which sounded great until they told me it was in a different building and up 7 flights of stairs with no lift. When in the apartment, the living room/dining room/kitchen area was nice and had a great view, but everything else was clearly furnished to a budge (a very low one) rather than a standard. The most disappointing thing was the urine left un-flushed in BOTH bathrooms and the fact there was no maid service to clean and provide fresh towels and toiletries during my 2 night stay. I'm fairly sure that even 3 star hotels have to provide this to keep their star rating...

It's the first time I can remember not being asked how my stay was on check-out, which is a good thing because I would have given the receptionist an earful.

I stay in London (and the Lancaster Gate area) most weeks on business and have tried 90% of the hotels in the area. This one is left wanting.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Comodore in London. The check in was a bit chaotic and took us longer that we expect to go to our room. I think the system the hotel uses are not fast enough. Lots of guests waiting. After we got our keys we got a ground floor twin room that was extremely small and with the window facing straight the pavement. We asked to change the room and we got a first floor twin, facing the back. The room was really nice, with a good level of comfort. The hotel is old ans shows it's age, but the the service from the staff is really good, so is the location. If you manage to get a good room, I am sure you will be happy like we were. The hotel is near Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate Tube Station. I will consider the Comodore in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor are really small and might face the pavement where anyone can see inside t...

The location was good, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was okay, had better, had worse. The bed was comfy and the air con worked. Downside is that the bathroom is absolutely tiny and the shower wasn't mounted to the wall. But you get what you pay for and we slept well so nothing to really complain about.
