This hotel is situated in Bayswater. It is a stone's throw from Bayswater tube station. Very comfortable and when I had trouble getting internet access, the staff at reception just took my laptop and did it for me in 2 minutes!
Breakfast was OK but I'm sure they had watered down the fruit juice!

The Phoenix hotel is set in the lovely bayswater. It is only 500m from the tube station making it perfect to come from heathrow and do your sightseeing. It is just off queens way which has shops and restaurants. The room was modern and tidy. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Overall a good experience!! Our window had a lovely view as well!!

Like many of the reviews already state, this hotel is located in a wonderful location...lots of restaurants, two tube stations walking distance, Kensington and Hyde Park close by. Where things go wrong is in the apparently untrained Slavic reception desk staff. They are very unfriendly...never greeting guests when we walk in the door, one female actually rolled her eyes in response to my concern about cab pick-up, and they all tried to blame the non-working wifi on my "American computer." (an ipad2) In talking with other guests from Australia, Kenya and throughout the UK, we learned they could not access or stay logged into wifi either. Huge concern if needing to do business or just keep in touch with family and friends. The McDonalds down the road got our nightly visit to log on. Also, don't know if it was just our room, but we were only allowed one key (a real key at that) to use between my son and I. We had to coordinate our returns to the hotel and divvy up who got the key based on wo would be back first. Silly in this age.
To sum things up, brilliant location, decent breakfast (albeit the same exact breakfast every day), inexpensive by London standards, SHODDY service and amenities.

I'm almost afraid to give this hotel too great a review in case I find I can't get a booking next time I'm in London! Oh well, here goes! What a hidden gem. Great location, lovely quiet area, albeit close to some great restaurants and all the shops you'll need. Clean...an understatement...my room was cleaned and turned down twice in one day! Modern bathroom, great shower, towels changed every day, great bed (single room), nice modern duvet, room great size for one, flatscreen tv with freeview, tea/coffee facilities adequate, nice touch with Aero hot chocolate drink. Lovely hotel staff...extremely friendly and helpful, even the lovely restaurant staff trying to facilitiate everyone for breakfast at the weekend which was not an easy task, given the numbers in quite a small restaurant area....bit of a wait... continental breakfast was great, and cooked options available at good prices. Nice little lounge seating areas, with daily newspapers available, bar of course, but didnt partake...seemed to be strange hours too. But all in all, a fantastic hotel. A stone's throw from either Bayswater or Queensway tubes, whichever line is handiest, both easy access to the West End. Kensington Gardens just a short walk away. What more can you want?!

My husband and I have stayed at the Phoenix Hotel at least twice a year for many years - usually as a theatre break on our birthdays. The high standard is always maintained. The breakfast is excellent and there is always a large choice. All the staff are very pleasant, helpful and professional. The rooms are extremely clean and the beds very comfortable. Our visits are usually in the winter but the hotel is always warm. The location is so convenient with two tube stations any many buses to the West End within a few minutes walking distance. On Sunday mornings we enjoy a walk through nearby Kensington Park into Hyde Park. Highly recommended.
