“Royal its not !!”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

Cheap hotel centrally based and that's about itll!!
Scaffolding outside of the hotel did not give a good first impression.
Guy on reception was helpful and the reception itself was ok.
My room (422) was small with a double bed, very heavy floral curtains, a sash window opening out onto a view of the back of another property, cracks in the plaster, a very small ensuite ( the shower was smaller than in a cross channel ferry ensuite ).
The room was generally tired and in much need of re-decoration.
The carpets in the hall and on the stairs were threadbare in places.
I did not stay for breakfast even though it was included in the price.
Draw your own conclusions !!!!

Room Tip: Please don't go for room 422

Had decent rating on Booking.com compared to others in the area so booked for one night whilst on business.Accomodation very basic and would expect more for the price.Staff were friendly and helpful.
Good location for Paddington stataion and 5 mins from Hyde Park which was great for early morning run.Needs upgrading.

The location is very good, just across paddington station, where underground, heathrow express and trains to other part of england are available. The hotel facilities are basic: small room with tiny shower, no elevator to carry the bag to the fourth floor, minimal breakfast.
But, if you are looking for budjet accomodation in a good location in London, this is a resonable chice.

Room Tip: No elevator available, ask for lower floor

Where do I start. The lad on reception was very pleasant and helpful.

The stairs off reception are fantastic with a wood carved balustrade.

Once you reach the first floor you are greeted with threadbare carpet patched with gaffa tape and filth on the walls, I have photographs so if the management want to deny don't.

A carpet Hoover was stored on the landing now this must be some kind of joke, hygiene is not on the agenda here.

The room was appalling, the en suite was a fibre glass pod which was filthy.
The carpet had a pub feel, sticky carpets and the view was non existent.

This hotel should be razed to the ground it is the worst place that I have ever stayed and that includes bus shelters and fields when I was a drunk student.

Do not waste your money, yes this place is cheap for central London but what a hole, stay away do not stay here.

The pub across the road is fab get your self tanked up that way you will not notice the carpets or filth on the walls.

If you do decide to stay, then the best of luck.

The position is very convenient, just opposite Paddinton train/underground station and various bus stops too. The staff overall was helpful. The lift is still out of service. We were on the second floor so not easy climbing the stairs with the suitcases. The double room we had overlooking the main road was very small. just a double bed, a two-door wardrobe,tv and small table all crumpled together, hardly any space to walk around. The shower room..interesting enough was a caravan/yacht piece literally placed in the room, so you can imagine ow tiny it was. Can't complain about the cleanliness, all around the hotel it was clean and tidy, towels changed everyday. Breakfast was served in a small room but we never waited long to be seated. orange juice and coffe /tea and toast offered twice. then choice betwen continental (yoghurt, muesli/cornflakes and 2 slices ham + 2 slices cheese) or english (2 sausages, beans, mushrooms, 1 slice bacon and egg). English breakfast was listed as a 2pounds supplement. My boyfriend had it twice but at the end we were not charged for it. Overall it was a nice stay besides that we only use the room for showering and sleep and maybe a short rest in between. But still find that it was expensive especially for the size of room and no functional lift. I know overall London is very expensive re accomodation, but for the same amount of money i always got a good sizeable room, bathroom and better services( lift and breakfast buffet) in 3 or 4 star hotels in other european capitals. as far this was the worst room i ever got. i don't think i will stay her again if some other time i return to London.
