Surprisingly, we found this branch to be empty bar two tables when we called on a Tuesday afternoon and were promptly seated - round the corner at the back of the restaurant where we could not be seen - out of sight, out of mind? We felt pushed out of the way and were not given an option to sit elsewhere despite numerous tables being available!
From a service point of view with the staff nothing could be faulted and this was no less than expected. The food, however, never hit the heights of other branches of Pizza Express we have been to. Due to a food allergy one of our party asked for one item to be left off a starter of tomato/mozzarella salad. When it arrived, we were faced with an uncut mozzarella ball and what appeared to be half a punnet of cherry tomatoes cut in half and then all thrown into a bowl. Dough balls were as expected but at least one serving was all still stuck together and semi burnt.
Most chose a pizza main course and all were lukewarm or bordering cold - such a shame - they reminded us of partially cooked frozen pizza - definitely not the usual standard - it almost smacked of us being given an inferior option as we had a Pizza Express voucher! Canneloni was great however - lets be fair, it's not all a complaint!
We felt rushed so ate up and left dissapointed (food only not the staff). Feedback has already been given to Pizza Express who acknowledged our evidence (we took pics and sent them in) just depicted the food as "sad". What a shame.
We won't let this stop us enjoying Pizza Express again and am sure this is not the usual standard this branch operates at in such a busy area of London.
