Friendly staff (the owner maybe?) kindly enough to talk coffee with me even though he was clearly in the middle of dealing with a renovation to their outdoor area at the back. Hopefully it goes well and I can spread out in the sun as the warmer months approach.

Food menu is good, simple and well priced. I'm yet to try one of their smoothies but there's always time.

The cafe has a really friendly, relaxing atmosphere and plenty of seating. I came in with my laptop in true 'me' fashion but could easily settle in to the sofa towards the back.

This is the place!
The coffee is perrrrrfect, but principally, the baristas listen to you, make your coffee the way you ask.
The staff are friendly and positive.
All good.
I have to say though that on a subsequent visit, wanting food, they apologetically explained that they only had factory produced granary available.
I declined. Totally not with the vibe.
With the Spence Bakery directly opposite, I think that was poor. Guys, just cross the road, get some decent bread and you’re serving your customers better.

Often pop in here for coffee; it's a simple no nonsense place that serves really great coffee and is sort of famous for its doughnuts. It's also famous for its donuts if you're American. But I go for the brownies or chocolate marble cake.

There are wheatless/glutenless options, and they will serve Soya and Almond milk on request.

Service is warm and friendly and feels family run. Always a good welcome and a nice mixed bunch of customers, mostly locals. Lots of tables out back and never a queue/wait. Order your coffee and they bring it to the table which is a nice 'anti-Costa' touch.

Happy to recommend.
There's even a sign to tell you what sapid means! The name works well with the coffee.

We came here after lunch to have a quick espresso, macchiato and a slice of pecan. At the till there was one piece of pecan left, nice size. When I asked for it the Till person cut it in half leaving me with a measly bit on a plate, I asked for cream and got " no".. No smile, no nice tone.£ 7.60

We sat down ad they deliver the coffee and waited maybe 20 minutes for the two items, at least. When the chap dropped it, he knew one of them was wrong so had to go back and redo the order. Appalling.

Meanwhile there was a bagel being sent to another table.. No one immediately claimed it and almost before the customer ( who was in toilet) could say " that's me, thanks ", the waitress roared " bagel in cream cheese", then saying if they dont speak up its going in the bin to other staff !

Overall staff dint look like they are enjoying the work, their busy stressed vibes feed in to the experience, so many other places do it better. And they deserve your money more negate of the efforts made.

Herbal tea and bagel £4.70. Tea served in a large mug but only half full. Avocado bagel took ages despite there being 2 staff behind counter and hardly any customers. Watched as my (very average - supermarket??) bagel was (just about) toasted, then put on a plate to cool while plastic box of pre-mashed avocado was languidly retrieved from fridge. Stingy amount of avocado smeared on. To ensure it was completely cold the barista left it to sit, wandered out from the counter to vaguely enquire whose it was and if I wanted chili flakes (no), and went back for it. Plastic gloves were donned for the prep but both baristas had very long hair worn loose. Mildewed toilet at back of café is only separated from main area by a single door (there may have been another that was propped open). Seating area extremely dark even on sunny day at 10am. Strange arrangement of very-nearly-empty shelves along one wall adding to the atmosphere. Shan't be going in again.
