I didn't want to pay a lot of money as I was going to collect my student daughter's belongings from her university lodgings. I paid £55 inc cont. breakfast. It was what I expected. The room was a bit shabby but clean. The bed had nice clean sheets on but the mattress was poor quality and there was little support there but I did manage to sleep okay. I took my own pillow as I'd read theirs were flat, which they were. Take your own! The windows were single pane and we were kept awake for hours by drunk people shouting outside. The breakfast was fine. If you're on a budget then this hotel is fine as they are also on a budget! It would cost a huge amount to do this place up and they obviously can't afford it. I think it's good you can find cheap places when you need them. If you're going for a romantic night, don't go there! If you're on a tight budget and/or going with your mates for a drunken weekend, you'll be fine. Oh and the people were nice.

Stayed here on our wedding night because someone had booked it for us, wish they hadn't bothered. Dirty, noisy, & the stupid girl on reception just commented that I looked very dressed up....to a new bride in bridal gown ??.... No help with bags, nothing. What a joke....never again.

This hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of Liverpool but this does, as already mentioned, makes it a very noisy place to stay.
The reception staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly and the breakfast, both continental and cooked, was lovely.
our room was dark, dated but clean and tidy. The pillows were...flat... but apart from that the bedding was good. It was a stuffy room which meant the windows had to be open and that did mean we heard every reveller passing all night then the dawn chorus from the seagulls!

It was a mediocre hotel at a good price. probably would not stay again though!

The Sir Thomas Hotel experience for us was a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. I will start with the positives:

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Just in simple things really, which really made for a pleasant atmosphere at reception. The bar area is also a very pleasant place to be as well. In the mornings it is quiet with televisions for news and a reasonable breakfast on offer, and at night I'm sure these are some of the finest cocktails on offer around Liverpool (and the queue outside was testament to this fact). The beds were comfortable.

Negatives:

Our room was poor. It was fairly small, dark and unappealing. A small 14" old style portable TV is just not good enough these days. There is no wifi in the rooms as advertised on their website. These are small issues which could be addressed easily. The rooms decor however could do with a complete overhaul. The dark red walls as unappealing as the mouldy curtains (that's right!). The room was just not a nice place to be (fortunately we weren't there much). The bathroom was fairly clean, but dated and tired and was starting to get a bit grubby if truth be told.

I am unsure if they are int eh process of revamping their rooms, but based on some reviews here, it would appear that some rooms are better than others, so it might be bit of pot luck (for reference we were in Room 302). I would say that the Sir Thomas Hotel is nearly there, and has the potential to be brilliant, however the nature of the room sadly has meant that I won't be staying again.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 302, however 3rd floor rooms were quiet.

stayed here on a weekend away with the lads, have to say its right in the middle of the city with everything within 2-3mins walk, the rooms are clean and comfortable, although basic the hotel was not overpriced by any means, and is most certainly worth every penny we paid, the food in the restaurant was tasty and satisfying, and the breakfast completely hit the spot after a long day and night on the town
